Bluesound Players can operate without the Internet. BluOS requires a router for communication with other Bluesound Players and for accessibility via the BluOS Controller app on an iOS/Android device or a computer within the same network.
Without the Internet and only a router, you can still:
- Configure network shares from Computers (Windows/macOS) or NAS drives,
- Share content on a Bluesound Storage device VAULT,
- Playback files from a USB drive or
- Stream Bluetooth content to the Players.
The bit-perfect lossless ripping process of a CD collection on Bluesound Players like Bluesound VAULT requires an Internet connection. BluOS automatically identifies and includes metadata tag information and album artwork from the Internet. In the absence of Internet access, you will need to manually incorporate metadata using third-party editing tools.
Bluesound Players also require the Internet to stream from Music Services such as Spotify, Tidal, or TuneIn.
Internet access provides essential support features on the BluOS Controller app, including firmware upgrade notifications and access to the Send Support Request function that allows transmission of diagnostic logs.
