BluOS Controller app 4.x.x
Upon the initial setup and connection to your Home Network, all Bluesound Players will undergo an automatic upgrade to the latest version of BluOS. Following this initial setup upgrade, they will periodically check for software updates.
Following the initial setup, there are three methods for upgrading your Bluesound Player:
A. Automatically
When a new upgrade is accessible from our upgrade servers, the Bluesound Player will inform you within 24 hours of its release. At that point, a pop-up will emerge, giving you the option to initiate the upgrade process or postpone it for an additional 24 hours.
B. Update BluOS Firmware (via BluOS Controller App)
To upgrade to the latest BluOS firmware via the BluOS Controller App, perform the following steps:
Android/iOS - Update BluOS Firmware
- Launch the BluOS Controller app, navigate to the Players tab
, and select the required Bluesound Player.
- Tap the Home tab
> Settings button
> Upgrade. The upgrade screen displays the following options:
- Update available – The Player Notification pop-up menu displays the latest firmware version available for upgrade. Select I want it now to start the upgrade.
- No update available – The player has the latest BluOS firmware version.
Windows/macOS - Update BluOS Firmware
- In the BluOS Controller App, select the Player Drawer.
- Select the required Player.
- Under the left Navigation Drawer, select Help > Upgrade Check - Player. The upgrade screen displays the following options:
- Update available – The Player Notification pop-up menu displays the latest firmware version available for upgrade. Select I want it now to start the upgrade.
- No update available – The player has the latest BluOS firmware version.
Identify BluOS Firmware
To identify the current BluOS firmware version of the Bluesound Player, perform the following steps:
Android/iOS - Identify BluOS Firmware
- Launch the BluOS Controller app, navigate to the Players tab
, and select the required Bluesound Player.
- Tap the Home tab
> Settings button
> About.
The BluOS:x.xx.xx field indicates the current firmware version of the selected Bluesound Player.
Windows/macOS - Identify BluOS Firmware
- In the BluOS Controller App, select the Player Drawer.
- Select the required Player.
- Under the left Navigation Drawer, select Help > About.
The BluOS:x.xx.xx field indicates the current firmware version of the selected Bluesound Player.

All Bluesound Players will automatically upgrade to the latest version of BluOS when they are first setup and connected to your Home Network. After that initial setup upgrade, they will check periodically for software updates.

A pop-up will appear to start the upgrade process, or to delay the update for another 24 hours.
2. Check For Upgrade: If you select Delay 24 Hours, you can force an upgrade, by selecting Upgrade from the Help menu.
