    Any update on this?

Same problem here. Popping between almost every track when using Roon, BlueOS, Spotify, etc. I’m not using a sub.

It’s not a very loud pop but it’s extremely annoying, especially for an audiophile level device. Any new updates?

Same problem small pop when changing tracks using Apple Music or tidal through bluesound app

I have this issue, too, but with a Node 2i and a BluOS dongle (both connected to my NAD receiver). I have two subs but they're connected to the AVR not the Node. I don't use the Bluesound app but the pop is evident through Tidal and Roon.

I verified on 10/24 that there still is no fix. I have been wanting to buy this unit for several months but obviously I will not until they fix the issues. Apparently this has been a problem since the unit was released. It is very disappointing that a company that makes some stellar products including the Pulse, Pulse Mini, and Node cannot fix a software issue for a unit that costs $949.00. Recall the existing units and tell the engineers to roll out a new unit that works! Poor customer service with a lack of a fix and no regular updates!

Same here. After returning two units due to this issue shortly after it was released, I checked in here to see if the issue finally had been fixed. Sadly not. So I have now chosen another streaming solution..

Same problem here. Would love to see this fixed. Really doubting to return the powernode now, as this is not the only issue (also sub receiving noise while bluetooth was automatically activated).

I believe Bluesound will fix this issue. Santa Claus will do it himself.

I received a response from Bluesound support on 12/1/22 and Nathan said "This issue has been fixed so it shouldn't be a problem. It reappeared 5-6ish months ago but has since been removed. Because of this, you should be able to stream Spotify with no issue".

Nathan is wrong. They reproduced the issue a long time ago but not yet fixed it. It’s not in the release notes and my Powernode still plops when changing inputs or streams. Spotify does not click or pop.

Nathan did just send an email indicating he was wrong "I got word that the popping/clicking noise while changing input/track is still an issue seen in some units. The issue has reappeared and the QA team is still looking for a fix, but we cannot say when a patch will come to fix it."

Bought a unit about a month ago. Same popping with the sub. When I brought it up with tech support, I got roughly identical responses that have been given for a year. "Will be a fix but we can't say when." I consider over a year a huge amount of time, which leads me to believe that if they could fix it, they would have. Fortunately I am still within my return window. Pretty flipping sweet player otherwise. I'm sad to see it go.

This is clearly unit related and not input related. Even switching between streams on the BlueOS app's Radio Paradise mixes (between MQA and CD quality) produces a pop. Not just with the sub, either--plug in some headphones in the front. You'll hear a baby little static pop in between audio qualities. It's native to the hardware.

Not sure if others experienced the same, but the last update fixed the issue.  I have no more popping.

No fix here, still popping from the sub when for example scrolling Netflix or changing inputs.

Same issue with Powernode N330 et Kef KC62 sub, there is a doubling popping sound at the start of every YouTube video. Does anyone have a solution please? Or, should i return the N330 ? This popping is a real annoyance. Thanks in advance fir your replies.

    Hi Frederick

We are continuing to chase this issue here at Bluesound. Please check the sensitivity and impedance of your KEF sub-woofer, we are seeing a disproportionate amount of consumers reporting this to have KEF speakers or a KEF sub-woofer. This is not to say if you have KEF you have a problem and if you don't, you don't... just that it seems to be more prominent there.

You could help out our QA team by selecting Help, Send Support Request with the subject - Pop with KEF and POWERNODE and in the description, include the service or services and tracks selected.

    Thank you.

Hi Tony, Thank you very much for your prompt reply. The Kef SL50 meta speakers are not having the same issue. However, like many others mentioned, this issue is only appearing when using the sub out on N330. I will check the impedance/sensitivity of the KEV subwoofer KC62. However, if nothing works, may I return the N330 acquired beginning of this month please? Thanks again.

    Hi Frederick

That unfortunate question can best be answered by your Authorised Bluesound Dealer rather than us here at The Support Crew

I have a Klipsch KSW-10 sub that plops since I have the N330. So not only KEF related. Gain is set to 1/3. With my former Denon AVR there were no problems. May I ask: why does this take this long? I first reported this issue in October 2021…

Hi all, I wanted to comment here from the product side to let you know this is a top priority for our team, and I hope to have some more news on a fix in the short-term.

Thanks to this community post and a few others like it, plus some individual customer support tickets that have been raised, this issue has been on our radar. We have had trouble replicating the issue ourselves, which is why we haven't had a fix yet. It is hard to fix something you cannot see or hear.

In any case, there is software engineering attention on this, and with the help of a few more recent cases where we have more detailed information, I'm quite hopeful our team will figure out the root cause of the issue and submit a fix via BluOS update when available.

I'll aim to keep everyone updated on the progress here. I'm personally sorry for the lack of input on this issue over the past months...that is on me.

In the meantime, all the best as we head into 2023 and thank you for your continued support.

    -Matt

Hi, when changing tracks on my Powernode I get a click in my main KEF LS50 speakers and a pop through my KEF KC62 subwoofer. This happens in playlists where tracks are from different artists/albums. When playing a continuous album the click/pop does not occur. I also get these sounds when changing sources, HDMI, optical in. My son has the exact same set up and experiences the same issue. I first reported the issue January 2022, should I request a refund as it seems this sonic defect cannot be resolved? I have sent an online support request so you have my system log file also.

    Matt S-

It happens when the source is changed or the bitrate is changed. Plug a subwoofer in and turn it way up--it gets louder with gain.

It happens when switching between audio quality on the native radio paradise app. It pops when I scroll between OTA TV broadcast. It happens in between most commercials on my TV's Sling app over optical.

When I turn my subwoofer down, it becomes less prominent.

I am having this issue WITHOUT a sub. I get a loud snap when the track changes IF I am playing a playlist from constantly varied albums/artists. If I play one album in it's entirety, I don't get the snap. But if I play a playlist with a mix of songs, I get the loud snap. I read somewhere a Bluesound engineer suspected it was from different recording levels into an external DAC. Here is my set-up:

Tidal streaming (it happens with both Tidal Connect and using the Bluesound app)

Bluesound Node 2i with ethernet (wired) connection from router

    Coax connection to external DAC

Peachtree Nova 300 integrated amplifier with built-in DAC

    Bowers & Wilkins CM5 Speakers

I had the same intermittent snapping sound between songs on my N130 without a sub. The digital output of the N130 was connected to WiSA transmitter for my active speakers.
It looks like there is a compatible issue with Bluesound and external devices causing the sound. Is Bluesound at fault here? Probably. I haven't experienced it with another source device...

Interestingly now that I've added a MiniDSP device between the N130 and the WiSA transmitter, the snapping sound has stopped. Ive not heard it once.

Any updates about this problem? I have the new NAD 3050LE with BluOs on board and have the same problem with popping sub if the bitrate is changed between songs

leroy, it's funny you just commented on this because no, I have not heard anything from Bluesound on this issue so just today I decided to order a WiiM Pro streamer - I'm going to compare and if I don't get it with the WiiM the Bluesound will be going up for sale!

Hello, Sad to say that yesterday's update of the bluesound OS did not fix the poping sound with youtube (at the beginning of every video track). Really any very annoying ! When are you going to fix this issue please?

It seems BlueSound crew has not shown any effective measure against this issue for a long time, so I asked it to ChatGPT. The following is the chatting with ChatGPT:

    ****
When the bitrate of the music being played changes, pop noise can occur in audio equipment. Is this issue caused by the audio circuit?

"Yes, it is possible that the issue of pop noise occurring in audio equipment when the bitrate of the music being played changes is caused by the audio circuit. The change in bitrate can result in changes in the electrical signal, and if the audio circuit is not designed to handle these changes properly, it can result in noise being introduced into the audio signal. To prevent this issue, it is important to design the audio circuit with appropriate components and circuitry that can handle changes in the electrical signal."

Is it possible to resolve this issue by the software update?

"It is unlikely that the popping issue can be resolved by a software update. Since the problem is likely due to the audio circuitry, which is a hardware component, a software change alone may not be able to avoid or solve the issue."
    ****

If ChatGPT is correct, we may not be able to count on the software update on this issue.

Update: Comparing issue using WiiM Pro streamer vs Node 3: Note that I was using the Node 3 as a streamer only, coax out to a Peachtree Audio amp with built-in DAC. With the Node I was getting a very harsh, loud pop or snap on most track changes, when playing a playlist with varied tracks (different artists/albums). I would NOT get the pop sound on track changes when streaming a full and continuous album (same artist/album). Using the WiiM streamer I still get the noise, but it is less pronounced - a softer static noise on many track changes but generally less harsh. This leads me to believe, as Frederick just stated above, this is hardware related and/or dependent on the changes inherent from one recording to another and the hardware making compensations for it, and can't be solely blamed on Bluesound. I don't think there will be a fix available from Bluesound. My personal response has been twofold: one is I have changed my music listening habits back to (oldschool) listening to full albums as opposed to mixed playlists, to avoid the super annoying issue. Secondly, if I really want to listen to a mixed playlist, I play a downloaded list directly from my phone to my amp via a bluetooth connection, and put up with the slight loss in fidelity.
