Hi Marko, I looked at Wiim as well. It provides you with connectivity options and YouTube music integration. However, wiim audio output has limited quality. Therefore, I went with a proper DAC to get better audio output going into my AMP. However, Wiim is still a good value option if that is what you are looking for.

Regarding Sonos, I think their integration architecture with the streaming services differs from Bluesound. Bluesound uses Tidal Connect or similar integrations where the node streams music directly from the media streaming service. This architecture does not have centralized cloud service proxying media. The cloud service is not cheap and is complex to implement. Sonos has the business scale to implement cloud and provide a cloud service that can integrate YouTube music service as well as others and standardize stream that comes from Sonos cloud to its speakers. The catch is that the stream quality is low compared to the Tidal Connect HiFi subscription. So if you are an audiophile looking for control and better quality, you will use the Bluesound approach, not Sonos.

    Hello Marko!

Let's state the obvious.. Bluesound simply doesn't care enough about the customers with YTM premium to implement it. This is clear when you see the response (that is multiple years old already) trying to simply stall and drag this crap out forever.

They could implement a wrapper around the Innertube API to avoid the memory costly binary they refer to (Chromecast) but simply don't want to.

But.. Don't worry! In the future BluOS will just be another dead piece of trash software that was left behind while others continue on. I've sold all my Bluesound units and moved on to MUCH greener pastures, better DACs and awesome software support/features.

I am super happy Bluesound made me sell the units now as I finally found other components that are generally speaking cheaper and much better both in audio quality and software features/support.

Also to add this again as it seems it was missed, for anyone looking for a wrapper for Inntertube API there is a maintained package to be found here: h t t p s://github.com/LuanRT/YouTube.js

This is the wrapper Volumio has used to build support for their units running Volumio3.

Thank you, Andy. I am "somehow" stuck with Bluesound. But maybe one of the bluesound gurus (in the tech or in the marketing department) will read your lines and start the work. I start to suppose that they have some commercial issues with YouTube. Who knows. But open and transparent information would be appreciated.

Instead of complaining and ranting from behind your keyboard send you complaints and expectations straight to the support team. If you already did, do it again!

I'm really disappointed that YTM is not supported. I'm stuck with keeping my spotify account active just for the wonderful integration with BluOS, but I would definitely not get another BluOS product until this issue is resolved. I understand that there are hardware implications but as others have already pointed out - other vendors have successfully integrated it and as an end user to me this looks more like a lack of will than anything else.

    Hi Alex et al

We hear you and have voiced that exact feedback and sentiment to YTM and Alphabet about our mutual consumers' desire to do so. We suggest you also speak to YTM about your desire to have their music service included in BluOS. Until they can provide us with proper deep integration, you will only be able to use AirPlay or Bluetooth. Thanks for understanding.

    Thank you Tony.

Since I was one of the initiators of this round's YTM request, I made the first step by sending the message below to YTM. One can place a request/feedback on YoutubeMusic by clicking the account icon.

Please join me to increase the pressure. I tried to be nice in the wording, but I assume, only the weight of the pressure of a big crowd will move Google.

    "....Hello Alphabet/Google/YouTube/YTM,

I love your product and everything works fine.

I prefer YTM compared with other music providers, such as spotify&Co, because the music selection is bigger, the streaming quality with the basic package is higher, and many other details speak for YTM.

HOWEVER: I am a music enthusiast, and I put emphasis on streaming quality. Therefore I am using the BLUESOUND sound system.

    https://www.bluesound.com/

It is "better" than Sonos with approx. the same price levels. But I know that Sonos is more spread in the market than Bluesound.

NOW: Bluesound has integrated all major music services providers including, Amazon, Deezer, Napster, Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, TuneIn and many many more. BUT NO YTM.

The Bluesound Team claims that you guys from YTM are making the problem. They would love to integrate YTM in the Bluesound system, but you are not flexible. I don't know if it is a technical hurdle or a commercial barrier. However, in the community, there are several specialists who claim that there would be "easy" technical solutions if everybody wants to do so.

A huge community is putting pressure on Bluesound on this, but nothing happens, and - I repeat myself - they claim that you are not flexible enough.

Can you make a step to bring this stuck Chicken and Egg problem one step further???

A considerable big and enthusiastic Bluesound Community would appreciate it very much.

    Very best regards.

Tony: BluOS could implement the APIs, which doesn't require tons of memory (obviously) but refuse to do it. This is how many of the competitors did it, implementing the APIs. I have provided examples. Nobody cares.

From the consumer perspective it seems BluOS simply does not want to support YTM or listen to their community (BlueOS 4 is a catastrophe already being delayed for ages with no information on what to expect).

Bluesound/BluOS is bound to fail with a product management performing this poorly, or wait.. did it already fail?

I use Youtube Music almost every day in my office (volumio3). In the Living room however I use NAD / BluOs and I am looking to change that to Node N0130 because I am building active speakers currently. But I wonder if this makes sense without YT. What is your commitment regarding implementation? When I read all this it seems to me like there is no serious plan to integrate it?

    Hi all
I am a frustrated customer as well and can not believe, that we do not get a honest answer to our question. As a programmer I do not see any technical restrictions as other companies could integrate YTM without any problems. So out of my pespective there must be a "political" issue.

I have started a new post and I will not give up, until I will get a honest answer. I am in contact with YouTube as well. I will update the following post accordingly. Thats for your information as you seem to be frustrated too

When I bought my Powernode, I dreamed about BlueSound equipment in every room. I’m so happy I did not wast more money on this. If BlueSound thinks YTM is below there quality standards, then please say so.

    Hi!
Just following up here to see if you have youtube music on the schedule?
When can we see some native integration similar to Spotify or Tidal connect?

  • Francesco Musso (FrancescoM)

yes, looks really bad that there are dozens of never heard of music services but not youtube music.

just adding myself to the list of unsatisfied clients. how could I recommend this to friends? how could I explain it's cool but doesn't work with youtube?

  • Bernd Vogt

I have contacted YouTube and it looks like, that they will not deliver an official YTM interface.

So instead of waiting for a never delivered interface its time now for Bluesound to go for an other solution, like other have done since years...I do not know any other company which is ignoring customer request like bluesound does.... Not supporting one of the biggest streaming plattforms is an absolutely no go out of my perspective

When reading through this thread and in the official comment, BluOS has offered Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay as two great options for Music Services that have been unwilling to work with deep integration.

Yes, and that means what exactly? I decided to stick to my Raspi / Volumio setup. In addition to offering a Youtube Music Plugin it is not tampering sound quality with software volume adjustment. I am not that kind of Apple like customer you obviously like to have.

A 100$ radio offers Bluetoth support. So there is no need for a BlueOS solution to connect my mobile with BlueOS.
Customers expect to have the possibility to get one of the biggest streaming services integrated. And your answer is that YTM is unwilling to work with deep integration. As a first step we would be happy to have a YTM integration if it is deep or not.
So please change your perspective and concentrate on what your customers expect (they pay our salery) and find solutions for your customers instead of do finger pointing on YTM that they are unwilling for deep integration. Other companies like SONOS and others show that there is a way...so please take the chance to jump over your shadow and find a solution

Bravo, Bernd! You can actually get it for $20 on Amazon. BlueSound was ahead of the industry but lost all the strategic advantage delivering zero innovation in the last few years allowing competitors to catch-up and move ahead. I’m surprised how many dedicated customers are still messaging here. Not working with that audience is a product disaster. I personally ended up buying Mac mini and VNC into it. It got future proof hardware and no limitation of what services I can run. There are still a lot of opportunities here that can make you successful if this attitude is left behind.

Those of you who can add equipment to make YouTube Music available on Bluesound, and those of you who can ditch Bluesound for an alternate platform are very, very lucky.  On a limited retirement income, invested in Bluesound and cannot afford to abandon it.  The equipment seems to work fine, but BluOS needs a lot of work, including a more user-friendly interface.

@Tony I wonder why you state there is no API you can use. I see other implementation utilizing the "innertube API" (YouTube's) successfully, as I've previously made clear to you several times by linking the actual repo's and giving examples of successful implementations.

Why is this not a valid option for Bluesound, while it seems to be the defacto way to go for others, and why do you keep pointing back to this and Meta for Bluesound not being able to offer what competitors do, without the memory costly implementations NAD devices can't support?

And yes, I've raised the same concerns with YT and got similar answers as mine (above) from them..

It seems it's more on Bluesounds side of the table and not Meta after all.

I agree with everyone here saying that Bluesound needs to listen and find a solution to integrate YTM. I thought BluOS would be a good occasion and I was disappointed again.

That's a major issue not supporting YT Music, I've just subscriped there. and i'm planning to quit Qobuz.
if there's no support for YT Music service there goes the player to the used market.

I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first Class D all-in-one amp, and I have my eyes on the NAD M33, M10 V2, and C399. Thus, i am doing a lot of research which bring me to here.

One concern I have is that BluOS doesn't support YTM, which happens to be my primary music streaming provider. This has left me feeling somewhat hesitant.

I was wondering if any of you could suggest alternative options that have HDMI eARC capability? It would be great to explore other possibilities before making my final decision.

Thank you in advance. I greatly appreciate your help.

  • Marko Koskenoja

Ash - this is brand new and has HDMi eArc and Chromecast but not YTM however you can use Chromecast to cast YTM.

    Can stream YTM through chromecast?

  • Andy Thompson

    @Ash-Cheng:

For eARC, Volumio Integro is a good product and Volumio3 supports YTM nicely through an Innertube API integration. The best streamer 2023 is the Eversolo DMP A-6 but I do not think it has eARC (even though it has HDMI) since it's an audio only device.. Eversolo runs on Android so you can install Android apps (YTM).
