YouTube Music service native integration
AnsweredWhile your list of natively supported music services continues to impress, I find it difficult to believe that YouTube Music has not made the list. There are other threads that mention Chromecast (which I currently use over digital coax to Chrome Audio on NAD M10 v2) but I'm much more interested in having a clean integrated solution.
Support, please provide us a clear direct answer as to why this feature is lacking for one of the most popular services out there. I challenge YouTube with the same question. I'm not looking for finger pointing but just want to emphasize that your current customers, potential customers as well and Youtube and Bluesound would really benefit.

Although we do not currently support Youtube music in the BluOS app, I will forward your request along to our Quality Assurance team for their consideration to include in a future update. We are always looking to develop and improve upon the BluOS app and a large part of that is providing more services to access your favorite music.
In the meantime, you can stream any Music Service App from your smartphone to a BluOS Player via Bluetooth. I will attach an article below with further details on establishing a Bluetooth connection with your BluOS player.
Thanks for living HiFi! -
Any news? Youtube music support is a must! Your app is good make it great… any timeline for the devopment?

+1 on the request. The workaround from Leonard will not provide HD Audio that Youtube music supports.
At the moment I'm using my laptop + DAC and I can stream 24-bit 192 KHz audio. I would love to replace this setup with node. Youtube music support is a must feature for me. Is there any update on this ticket or availability of the service?

No support for Youtube music in the BluOS app? For me also a big request. I so want to use my Premium account.

Support for YTM must be absolute. A reason not to buy or recommend bluesound otherwise. The quality is far too poor via bluetooth!!!!

Would really love to have this one added. Probably it's one of the biggest streaming services and it's weird that it's not supported.

Please add support for YTM and Chromecast.
Chromecast has a straighforward API to enable support for and many devices do support it, e.g., Cambridge Audio Evo 75/150

Well, here in Spain there is another user who doesn't understand how there is no official support for YouTube Music in the best music streaming application on the market.
Awaiting an update...

It's important also to explain why YTM support is important.
Based on my externsive experience YTM has a much wider catalogue of music albums/artists/songs than the others (Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz)... This is a huge dealbreaker for me and there is no comeback for me after discovering YTM.
Also with the same YTM subscription I have ads-free access to video Youtube. Another important aspect.
Finally the YTM app is better designed, not a real dealbreaker this one, but thumbs up.

I wonder what YTM does to keep BluOS away..
I use YTM premium in Volumio 3 on a Primo device and it works very well. Would be fantastic to have it directly on my NAD.
Roadmap for BluOS?

Please add YouTube Music and/or Chromecast. If there is any frustration with my Node, it's the lack of support for these services.

How can this not get any priority? Downgrading my app rating to 3 out of 5

I am also missing this feature. I was surprised it wasnt listed between all the other available streaming options!

I still tell my friends that I’m using YTM on my powernode. Not telling about my HiFiBerry running Volumio to enable this. I feel always a bit ashamed touching this topic but actually you developers should …..
I can’t wait for this golden update.

I find it interesting nobody from Bluesound cares to look at this thread, since it's not new and it's marked as "completed" since it was "answered" 1yr ago. The answer basically means Bluesound got the note and hasn't cared an inch since.
I really recommend the Volumio Primo devices, or just the Volumio 3 software, which supports Youtube Music as a plugin.

Well, if you all do as I just did:

Thank you Tony.
Since I was one of the initiators of this round's YTM request, I made the first step by sending the message below to YTM. One can place a request/feedback on YoutubeMusic by clicking the account icon.
Please join me to increase the pressure. I tried to be nice in the wording, but I assume, only the weight of the pressure of a big crowd will move Google.
"....Hello Alphabet/Google/YouTube/YTM,
I love your product and everything works fine.
I prefer YTM compared with other music providers, such as spotify&Co, because the music selection is bigger, the streaming quality with the basic package is higher, and many other details speak for YTM.
HOWEVER: I am a music enthusiast, and I put emphasis on streaming quality. Therefore I am using the BLUESOUND sound system.
It is "better" than Sonos with approx. the same price levels. But I know that Sonos is more spread in the market than Bluesound.
NOW: Bluesound has integrated all major music services providers including, Amazon, Deezer, Napster, Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, TuneIn and many many more. BUT NO YTM.
The Bluesound Team claims that you guys from YTM are making the problem. They would love to integrate YTM in the Bluesound system, but you are not flexible. I don't know if it is a technical hurdle or a commercial barrier. However, in the community, there are several specialists who claim that there would be "easy" technical solutions if everybody wants to do so.
A huge community is putting pressure on Bluesound on this, but nothing happens, and - I repeat myself - they claim that you are not flexible enough.
Can you make a step to bring this stuck Chicken and Egg problem one step further???
A considerable big and enthusiastic Bluesound Community would appreciate it very much.
Very best regards.

Hi all
I am a frustrated customer as well and can not believe, that we do not get a honest answer to our question. As a programmer I do not see any technical restrictions as other companies could integrate YTM without any problems. So out of my pespective there must be a "political" issue.I have started a new post and I will not give up, until I will get a honest answer. I am in contact with YouTube as well. I will update the following post accordingly. Thats for your information as you seem to be frustrated too

I used Twitter to point to this thread and tag both YouTube Music as well BlueSound accounts. I believe it is on their radar and curious why do they choose to be quiet.
https://twitter.com/dbeilis/status/1635067450197954560Perhaps, we can reach out to YouTube Music service directly as well.

How is it that Sonos can add YouTube Music to their app and make it work with their less expensive speakers?
2 -
yes, looks really bad that there are dozens of never heard of music services but not youtube music.
just adding myself to the list of unsatisfied clients. how could I recommend this to friends? how could I explain it's cool but doesn't work with youtube?

Those of you who can add equipment to make YouTube Music available on Bluesound, and those of you who can ditch Bluesound for an alternate platform are very, very lucky. On a limited retirement income, invested in Bluesound and cannot afford to abandon it. The equipment seems to work fine, but BluOS needs a lot of work, including a more user-friendly interface.

@Tony I wonder why you state there is no API you can use. I see other implementation utilizing the "innertube API" (YouTube's) successfully, as I've previously made clear to you several times by linking the actual repo's and giving examples of successful implementations.
Why is this not a valid option for Bluesound, while it seems to be the defacto way to go for others, and why do you keep pointing back to this and Meta for Bluesound not being able to offer what competitors do, without the memory costly implementations NAD devices can't support?
And yes, I've raised the same concerns with YT and got similar answers as mine (above) from them..
It seems it's more on Bluesounds side of the table and not Meta after all.

That's a major issue not supporting YT Music, I've just subscriped there. and i'm planning to quit Qobuz.
if there's no support for YT Music service there goes the player to the used market.2 -
It's a shame but I have to invest in a different company to stream youtube music. Really like bluesound. I just like youtube music better. Sorry guys

+1 to this. YTM is 100% needed asap.
