All audio files are not recorded with the same volume levels. Recently mastered audio files are recorded at higher volume levels when compared to older audio tracks. When you stream a playlist with a combination of both new and old audio tracks, the inconsistency in the volume levels would be evident.
Bluesound provides an option to stabilize the volume using the Replay-gain setting embedded in the digital file encoding of the audio track. This avoids the need to manually adjust volume levels between tracks.
