Hi Jason, Bluesound device including the VAULT do play local music when there is no Internet connection, if I unplug my WAN lead that goes to the ONT I am still happily browsing and playing local music.

You Router however might not be so forgiving and routing goes to pot when the interface to the Internet goes. I have a mesh Wi-Fi system that needs the Internet to function, after a few minutes disconnected all Wi-Fi and Routing through the mesh devices stops, luckily this gives me enough time to enable Wi-Fi on my main Router and this keeps my local network running.

Would suggest you contact Bluesound support for assistance.

Thanks for the reply, I read the article and unless I am missing something...the article does not say that a connection to the internet is needed to play tracks stored in the Vault.  So again why was I not able to access the tracks stored in my Vault when the access to the internet was down (Wi-Fi was still working)?

You're not missing something. Bluesound players will (and do) work without connection to the "internet".

In short; You were not able to access your Vault because your internal network was not functioning as it should.
Why it wasn't functioning as it should? I believe that question should be asked to your network equipment provider.

Hmmm… I do remember being able to “see” the players  (have five plus the Vault) but could not play a track on the one for the room I was in at the time.  Next time we lose the internet (pretty rarely) I will try that again and see what happens………

    Thanks

For testing, just unplug the "internet" and see what happens. If it's a router with an internal switch everything on the "inside" should work.

As far as I know there is no way to access music on the Vault without a working internet connection. It's very dumb. It seems close to pointless to embrace "physical" media by storing all your ripped media onto a box, but that box becomes completely useless when the internet goes down.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it and I'll look into it. Maybe I was jumping the gun and I'll try to tinker with different things.
