Hi Marco, If the batteries were fully discharged and left like that for some time they may very well be end of life. You can as you have found, often get them charged and showing capacity but once under load they discharge rapidly. Sticking them into a torch with a halogen bulb will give you an idea or even in another device that take AA and use them heavily, a few charge / discharge cycles may help.

With the battery pack being second hand you have to consider it’s faulty, hence the totally flat batteries (NiMH discharge slowly and should still have some life after a year). Don’t try Alkaline AA batteries as these are a higher voltage.

Personally I would return to the seller.

Hi Seppi, Tanks for the answer. I did check the batteries with an electric milk frother.

Current assumption is they should work at least for some minutes.

Does somebody have the connector pin configuration? Would like the measure if sth reaches the pins.

In parallel I will test with some other batteries.

PS: Cannot return the part. Second hand, no warranty.

    Hi Marco

Do NiMH batteries lose capacity over time?
Yes, NiMH batteries can experience a gradual loss of capacity over time, commonly referred to as capacity fade. This occurs through repeated charge and discharge cycles, and factors such as temperature and storage conditions can contribute to the overall aging of the battery.

As Seppi suggested, if the batteries are fully depleted, they will not recharge using the trickle charge and must be either charged externally or replaced altogether by opening the hatch on the inside of the BP100 and replacing the 8 batteries inside using other NiMH batteries ONLY.

    Hi Tony and Seppi,

Got a set of brand new pre-charged batteries, of course NiMH ;-), fully charged them with an >external< charger ... with still the same result ... immediate switch-off when power cable is removed.

So, as assumed earlier, I can rule out the batteries as a cause.

When BP-100 is attached, the app is showing the icon for it being attached. So there must be a general connection/communication between the speaker and the battery pack device.

A pin layout of the BP-100 would be great to measure if voltage is provided at the battery pack pins.

Or is the battery holder device available as a spare part?

    Any further suggestions?
