I've searched the forums for this subject but I couldn't find any post about this product's support for standard home theater audio formats. So I appreciate any help someone can provide.
The problem is that the Powernode seems to only be able to handle one type of audio format from my TV (either through HDMI-ARC or optical), and that is 2-channel AC3. There is no sound output for any other format. The Crutchfield specs says "The PowerNode 2i (Gen 2) will downmix multichannel audio content (such as Dolby Digital/DTS) to 2ch stereo." Is this true?
In short: Which of these formats can I send to the Powernode HDMI-ARC and/or optical and expect it to play?
Dolby Digital Plus
If it matters. My TV is a new LG C9 OLED. I read that it will not fully support eARC until a firmware update next spring but my problem occurs on optical out too. I know optical cannot handle the higher-bandwidth formats I've listed above but all this worked great on my old DAC (NAD C510) which was stereo and optical only, no HDMI.
