High „click“ sound while playing from the BluOS app via the MCD BlueOs 2i module
AnsweredRecently, I bought a bundle of NAD C368 amplifier, Dali Opticon 6 Speakers, and the BluOS 2i module for the amplifier. The setup was easy, I use the system via a FritzBox 7490 router with AVM Powerline. The BluOS 2i module is connected with the Powerline adapter via LAN cable.
I rip my Music CDs via JRiver with the FLAC encoder.
Yesterday, during the play of Dvorak‘s Requiem, I encountered a very high „click“ sound form the speakers, at one point of the first track. It occurs reproducible always at the same location. The sound of course disturbs enjoying the music.
My music is streamed from a Western Digital NAD drive (My Cloud) connected directly to the router via LAN cable.
When I play the same track from another app, like Music Streamer, via AirPlay form the BluOS module, the disturbing, short click sound doesn‘t occur. It also never occurs, when playing the original CD from any CD player.
What could be the reason for this behaviour? Is there any strategy to analyse the problem and to avoid it? Could the short high level click sound damage the Dali speakers?
I hope, someone has some ideas on this topic.
Kind regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas
Thanks for the detailed information. Please re-rip the the CD in JRiver as there is an issue with the file. I assume you ripped it as 16/44.1 as it is a CD. Please continue to do so for the most exact copy. JRiver settings may have changed since I last used it but use the slowest, most thorough encode method.
Once completed replace the file and try again.
If the problem persists with the new file, please select Help, Send Support request so we can delve further.
Given it is always at the same spot it is most likely a problem with the file.

I followed your advices by ripping the two CDs again with FLAC codec at the lowest compression rate JRiver offers. That fixed the problem. I just wondered, why the click sound occurred when playing via BluOS natively, but not when playing via AirPlay from another app.
When I took the first CD for refilling, I discovered some scratches on its surface. That might be the reason the music file wasn‘t ripped flawlessly.
Thank your very much for your quick help.

The clicking was caused by distortion of a bad rip, not the scratch. You didn’t hear it via AirPlay because your iPhone has to downsample it to play it correctly.
Enjoy.
