The BBC have just launched a new service called Sounds which is the Radio station analogue to the Catch up I player service for TV
At the moment I am streaming it via my laptop and Bluetooth to my Node 2 and quality is good but could be improved. (FYI it should be accessible anywhere via VPN )
Are there any plans to make it a built-in Music source and if not why not ..

What I find amazing is that a group of people can get the full Sounds service to work with the old Logitech/Squeezebox platform but BluSound can’t.

Squeezebox ... not a supported or authorized or legal based integration, take that for what it means...

Ok, did my bit as well and got exactly the same response. It doesn't hurt to send as many queries as possible. Just a bit disheartening to see such copy/ paste, not sure if it will ever happen, a bit "computer says no"... fingers crossed.

I'm not surprised by the cut and paste response. That's pretty usual for large organisations. But if, as intimated, each comment or request is added to a document that is regularly seen by the senior management and BBC Sounds design team, they may be more likely to take notice of multiple comments or requests about the same service if they keep popping up under their noses ;-)

Could anyone provide the latest update to the integration of the BBB Sounds into the BluSounds. I’ve notice a few updates recently but no changes to music services.

There nothing yet. All that has happened is you can stream live BBC radio. There is no Sounds.so you can’t access any thing. But you should be able to steam it from your phone/tablet.

The fact that this thread has been ongoing for four years at this point is pretty depressing - doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence that BBC Sounds will ever integrate with BluOS. Without BBC Sounds (95% of what I listed to is catch-up) and Apple Music, it’s very hard to justify staying with this platform. Integrate these two services and suddenly Bluesound is a Sonos beater, without them it remains niche - a shame because the hardware is superior.

I'm honestly more tired of the thread than you are since the BBC, their deep levels of bureaucracy and the multitudes of people that we have been working through for years to partner with them seems endless. We intend of course to keep pushing for a direct integration.

If its all the fault of the BBC/APPLE how is it that others can host both natively, e.g Eversolo Dmp-A6 , ie hardware issue

They are just running Android and Android Apps, nothing native and certainly not multiroom.0 -
TuneIn in my location only shows BBC World Service and a few language specific streams (eg. Pashto). If Sonos can implement Sounds, why can't Bluesound?

Not sure I understand the semantic distinction from Seppi Evans above re the eversolo : " just running android apps, nothing native"
R3 via the bbc sounds app ( even forgetting the liberation from schedules that catch up brings) is at a higher bitrate than tune in streaming.
I would be very happy to trade multiroom for apple and bbc r3 apps available without the need to cast from another device, whether that is technically " native" or not.

With fancy add-ons akin to room correction and multiroom but only an fm radio radio .1 -
@Anthony Doyle “No difference to running apps on an Android phone or tablet.” as the Eversolo is just an android device in a posh case.

@Anthony Doyle BBC sounds advertised their bitrate as up to 320 kbps. For BBC Radio 2 via Tune In on the Node, when I click on the feed icon whilst it is playing, I am offered a choice of streams which includes 320 kbps. Having selected that and saved it as a Favourite, I get the 320 kbps feed by default each time I select Radio 2 from the Favourites menu. I assume you can do the same with other BBC radio streams?

I am in Spain. The BBC streams are not available via TuneIn. They do work via Sonos BBC Sounds and also with the native app for the Wiim streamers.

In Germany I have for BBC 3 via TuneIn with NAD M33 only the choice between 99 kbps and 48 kbps. Stupid

Brian,Ralf and the live streams is not BBC Sounds. Yes it is part of but then there is the whole rest of the service. Catch up. Specials. Therms. Play lists, favorites etc etc. All paid for by our licence fee. No different to any other subscription service. Available for anyone who registers.

Sorry, you don't understand. It's not about the not supported BBC Sounds. It's about a solution to get best quality via TuneIn with BluOs

The lower quality stream for R3 is what the BBC provides outside the UK.
Bluesound is falling way behind on radio streaming outside the US. They seem incapable of reacting to changes and stay stuck with TuneIn. Norwegian radio streams are no longer using TuneIn, so there's another bunch of users left in the lurch.
Too little, too late.
