+1, it would be great to have a feature to link 1 speaker to multiple groups !

Is this ever going to happen? So many replies on this post and nothing is happening.

    We definetely need this feature!

Insane this is still not possible. Especially, when it was promised 2 years ago, that it was under development.  I was really close on pulling the trigger on full house multiroom setup, but this is a real dealbreaker. I am serriously considering Sonos instead.

Very sad... At least keep the topic updated with progress and roadmap. But I understand you will not disclose the roadmap, especially if this feature is not even on it.

With the latest update of Bluos there is an option in the Audio settings called "Stereo Surround". When I enable that option, I hear sound through all speakers, in the Home Cinema Grouping setting! I just don't know yet what it does with Dolby in the movie setting, because then I can't disable the stereo surround setting. Apparently this setting applies to all modes. But it seems that progress has been made after all! Would be nice if it was communicated by Bluesound itself.

Thx Andre! I wasn't aware of it. Check https://www.bluesound.com/news/2020/bluesound-adds-new-surround-mode-listening-option/

Thanks for sharing the article! Now i still hope you can set it per mode. I don't feel like having stereo sound on my rear speakers when I'm just watching TV.

    We're almost there!

That would indeed be the ultimate solution André, but I'm already quite happy with this.  Thanks for sharing!

This update kinda snuck in. Seems they should put this option front and center in the UI?

From what I can tell, and they seem to call this out in the notes, enabling the "stereo surround" seems to only have an effect on stereo content. And can stay enabled without interfering with surround content.

    Nice update, finally!

This is a welcome update as I have a soundbar 2i with powernode (gen1 with duo 2.1 speakers) as rears in my home theatre group. I still want to be able to select the powernode on its own to play music though without ungrouping. I was amazed.....and still am that this is not possible.

I think the idea of scenes would be amazing we have 2 scenes in our house:

Movie scene: Powernode N330 by the TV and two flex 2i's as surround sound

Music scene: Powernode N330 by the TV and two flex 2i's in the kitchen

Currently it is kinda workable with the surround stereo option but we don't always move the flexes if we are lazy we get our back channel in the kitchen :P

    Hi,

I used to use chromecast audio - I could play the sound individually and in groups straight from Spotify without having to open any app to remake groups.

This is NOT a Spotify API bug, this is a very basic feature that is still missing after 3 years on my node 2i!?

Is there any plan of making one speaker joining multiple groups possible anytime soon?

If is would be added I think anyone that owns more than one unit would be really happy! :)

Yes, im also still awaiting this... Sadly it currently stops me for buying more speakers, for the rest of the house to have full "multiroom audio".

+ 1 for this upgrade. I'm streaming Tidal Hifi Plus and would like to be able to select the following in both BluOS and Tidal Connect without manually grouping/ungrouping:
    - Kitchen
    - Living Room
    - Kitchen+Living Room
    That's multi-room! Many thanks.

+1 Exact same scenario as mentioned above.

@Bluesound Crew > would love to get an update on this. Adding this feature would truly increase my listening experience.

Dont get your hopes up. A rather good product, ruined by crappy firmwares, that they are unwilling or unable to fix. So adding new (cool) features is very unlikely to happen. Just look at this topic. + 3 years, and nothing has happened.

    Its ridiculous.

@Lasse - yeah agree - I jumped into the Bluesound ecosystem because its sound quality (compared to Sonos).... it's such a shame that the hardware quality is not followed by it's software. A true misunderstanding of your audience IMHO - this is where your audience connects with your product on a daily basis (at least I do) - thus getting disappointed at every session. This is how you kill advocates.

The other request about the same issue (couldn't call it a missing feature anymore) was just closed.

Think this Mark T. guy is a bot.

Opened a support ticket but I'm not very hopeful that somebody shares the actual status of feature development after these four years when people where promised that it is complicated to implement (I DO! understand that, really) but work is ongoing. After four years there HAS to be some news on development for customers or they never started to investigate/divert resources and they lied to customers.

Please clarify and keeping us hopeful that bluesound will keep up with competitors to constantly improve their products and keep up with both the 'outside' pace of product development and their customer wishes.

Love their products, currently have 5 (+ battery pack) and like the ease of use still. But there has to be continued support for customers...

    Hi Sebastian

Thanks for the feedback - rest assured on two things. All posts here are read by real people and employees of Bluesound and its subsidiaries. Also, we review and thoroughly discuss consumer feedback, not all features are implemented for various amount of reasons whether it is development time, limitations of other partners, hardware or supply chain limitations or simply lower than expected demand.

All that being said, it is a long-standing policy of BluOS Development to not make our product development roadmap public for a number of other reasons, mostly to avoid the trap of other organisations of overpromising and underdelivering. One that may have short-term excitement but doesn't give long-term customer support.

Thanks for your continued support and for #LivingHiFi

Fine Tony, I do understand all of your points. You made them in multiple threads and/or on multiple occasions. Sometimes it is easy to follow your words, sometimes I do some digging in other forums and sometimes, despite the issues with listening to customers, you formed an AWESOME community around your products which finds solutions to support your products above and beyond of what you do.

Example: I found some guys being able to access the bluesound API part and sending commands to players via browser. This enabled me to build my very own voice assistant to control your products (amongst other things). Dedication and effort from the community is needed here to go beyond what you guys provide and make it an even better experience.

However, I feel this example is something you should cherish and be proud of. But rather than that you fail to give any support back to said community and just keep vague words about something highly requested for YEARS and available in a lot of competitor products. I don't see the reason to not share any progress with this particular request where even your agreed years ago that this would be something needed.

I am very sure that either you yourself or at least somebody around your team might know other manufactures with a more open mindset. Again, I appreciate your products and can understand your point but wouldn't you be personally frustrated if you are promised that your request is being worked on for yours and after a kind request for an update you receive again just vague words. For. Years.

I understand your point, please take a tiny bit of effort to understand ours.

Another example: With the Plex request you clearly stated that it's not going to happen. So customers know and we can find ways around this issue and help each other when we decide to still use your products. But here, still nothing. :)

(Yes, I'm passionate, positively, about your products. Would love to have multiple speakers EVERYWHERE. But.... wife. :D )

    Now it gets interesting.
After replying in a similar respectful tone to my support ticket request after receiving very similar vague words without any content, the support person there sent the EXACT SAME WORDS than Tony did two posts above.

I think they have a list of pre-prepared answers for customers requests and keep cycling through them. I replied again and received same words I saw in another thread posted by Mark T.

This can only lead to the conclusion that they really don't care about what we write here and just try to keep their system running with bugfixes rather than listening to the community. I welcome the support crew team to debunk this theory by FINALLY sharing the progress made in the last four years after we have been promised. Just to ensure: I'm not asking timeline, planned release date or anything. I'm asking for info like: 'We kept working on it but couldn't manage issue xyz in setting y' or 'we're currently redesigning home theater speaker groups and once this is completed it will make it easier for us some implement this request' or just anything in those four years... Is that asked for too much?

Happy to continue pressing on this and also share my support experience with hifi-forums and magazines I'm in touch with. Several news outlets continue to write huge summary article on the current streamer landscape and they would be excited to also get hands on review of customer support experience to include in their comparisons. :)

That sounds like a great suggestion @Krang - looking forward the the Bluesound team providing us with an answer along those lines.

Also - if this is not the platform for their users to share thoughts/feedback/input, then what is? Do we have to go through the socials?

    Hehe! Funny.. Or..

I've reported an bug (with missing icons when HomeTheater group is outputting DD). Still not fixed. But OK, it "only" 6 months ago, so what to expect.

    https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/4420517665687-Missing-surround-sound-icon-in-IOS-app?page=1#community_comment_7601606745879

Also had the pleasure with their supported, because I cannot enable "Stereo surround". Tried to reset all devices, tried to reapply latest upgrade on all devices by using an USB stick, upon their request.. After some days, they came back that their QA team has confirmed there is an bug.. 1 month later NOTHING has happened,so I've contacted them again, and after some "pushing", their finally came back that this was an bug with the IOS app only (it works from e.g. windows)...... 2,5 months has gone by, and still NOT fixed! Ridiculous.

Just wanted add the obligatory +1 to this feature. Seems ridiculous to use the excuse that their groups but was built around a different structure when this seems the most basic structure that should have been thought of. You don’t even have to do what is suggested with having a speaker part of multiple groups just improve the UI so you can move an individual speaker between groups by dragging and dropping, or even more just have a “move” button and select the new group, and let the grouping and un grouping be done by the app in the background. The issue isn’t structural like you claim, because it can be mostly changed with UI only.

I also wanted to add there was an update, at some point recently, that made this worse. Though the speakers were receiving the same source, previously I could control the volume of each speaker separately with the volume buttons on the speaker, and the play pause button would also stop just that single speaker (good for adjusting rooms individually on the fly and worked las a work around to the issue reported in this thread); this also was the same with the remote which now sees them as a single speaker - they truly act as a single speaker now and retain no independence which is a step backward. Additionally in the app, clicking on the group used to show each individual speaker and allowed individual volume adjustments and tweaks, now you have to click on the group, open that up, click on the speaker, click on settings adjust that speaker, leave the menu, click on the group click on another speaker, and repeat for each adjustment you want to make.

If fixing the grouping is so hard, then at least go back to how you had it before as you’ve just doubled down on the problem.

Additionally, could you share an API with developers? I feel like my software team could make an app pretty quickly that would do this and save you the trouble.

They will not open their API 100%, i've already asked their support about this. Whis is pretty strange since some of it is already public. https://bluesound-deutschland.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Custom-Integration-API-v1.0_March-2021.pdf

Theres also official wrappers on e.g. github https://github.com/albertony/blushell

I am stunned by reading this whole tread. 4 years and still nothing. I am fairly new to Bluesound and bought it for the great audio quality. Started using it in various ways: tv stereo only, tv + kitchen, tv + kitchen + garden… tried to group.. realized it did not work. Go back to just selecting the components individually every time I had a different use… and realized that with my previous Logitech setup this was waaaay easier to create and use. So I jumped on the internet because surely there was a solution and stumbling on this tread. My word.. how can it take so long to introduce creating different groups/scenes with reusing different setups. It just cannot be that difficult that it takes so long. Very upsetting.

    Hi guys!
I just purchased one month ago a Powernode that I’m using with 2 Tannoy D80, and a Soundbar+ for my Oled with Sub+. I created a fixed group for cinema surround because the Tannoy pair is on the back of the sofa. But when I want to listen only to music I prefer to use only the stereo Powernode. But I have every time to cancel the fixed group and then make it again for movies listening.
Why? This thread is 5 years old. A lot of users are asking for this feature. It’s absolutely obvious and useful to have this feature. Make a group for example for cinema/surround and let to use only a device of the group to listen for stereo music.

If I knew this wasn’t possible I’d not bought Bluesound products!

Please do something. I think it’s a feature not so difficult to implement. And please not let us to wait for another 5 years!!!!!!
