Power off Node Icon-device

I've read, that take off the powerchord, is not good for durability for the Node Icon device. Is it really harmfull to do this several times a year. I want to do this for safety and surge-protection, when I'm going on holiday for several weeks

  Have a look at the following article, it is not recommended switching it off on a daily or frequent basis:

  If you have concerns regarding voltage surges, only "protecting" the unit during holidays does not make sense. Better to put a surge protection between the mains and the unit.
