    Hi Zarko

According to the documentation of your third-party DAC, a Windows or macOS driver may be required for USB output. This means your USB output is not asynchronous communication and not just a DAC but is simple SPDIF. You will have better performance using COAX.

That being said, your NODE X has an ESS SABRE high-quality DAC. Try the analogue out and let your ears decide.

Thanks for the answer. Is it somehow possible to use USB output as asynchronus without that driver? And if I use another device from another manufacturer as a streming transport with a USB output, will I need that driver?

Those are questions for your DAC manufacturer... Again, if you prefer the sound of your DAC, using COAX is your best bet.

Your Bluesound Player is not a kit - it is a finished goods product. Please use COAX or the Internal DAC.

Hi Zarko - when using any digital output on your Bluesound Player, you bypass the on board DAC. If you have any further questions, our Support Crew will be happy to answer them by selecting Send Support Request from the Settings menu of the App.

Although the USB digital output on Bluesound Node is designed to have a "fixed volume," it may have a "variable volume" depending on the USB DDC/USB DAC used. This occurs depending on the model, even if the USB device supports USB Audio Class 2.0.

I reported this issue on the forum in the thread below, and then had a long discussion with the support team, including log analysis. In conclusion, it is a "bug", but there is no clear answer as to when it will be resolved, and it has not been fixed to date.

After trying various workarounds for this issue, I also found that repeated "Reset All" operations on the audio outputs sometimes reverted to a fixed volume. (However, it may need to be repeated several times and may not work.)

    (FYI)

USB digital output volume setting (variable only, can't be fixed)

Thanks Gonzaemon it's definitely a bug, I tried as you suggested, reset all and now it's fixed volume through the usb output

Although it now says fixed volume, I don't think it's an asynchronous USB connection, it sounds much better through the optical output of the node x

Devices compliant with USB Audio Class 2.0 support asynchronous mode.

In addition, for USB output, the clock of the USB DAC/USB DDC in the latter stage is used for digital signal processing, so a qualitative advantage is expected.

The pros and cons of sound quality are subjective, so I won't discuss them here, but Node now supports USB connections in response to requests from many users. Bluesound has also officially stated that the reason for the fixed USB output is to consider sound quality.

Furthermore, when USB output was first implemented on Node, it worked correctly in BluOS 3.X. This issue has been occurring since BluOS 4.0.

Therefore, I hope that the issue of USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant devices not functioning according to Bluesound specifications will be resolved soon.
