Alexa/Blue voice partly works but the most important thing doesn't.
AnsweredI have a NAD with BluOS MC2 module, called “Lounge” due to its location.
I have just purchased an Amazon Alexa and linked it to the player via the online instructions. Now using Alexa I can, via blue voice, to do things like:
- Alexa tell blue voice to pause the lounge
- Alexa tell blue voice to raise volume in the lounge
If I am streaming something from my phone directly from Tidal to the NAD, I can even prompt “Alexa ask blue voice what is playing in the lounge” and I get the response “You are listening to Love over Gold Telegraph Road, playing Dire Straights”. So responses are going to and from Alexa and Blue Voice.
However, I can’t for the life of me, get Alexa/Blue voice to initiate playback of anything from Tidal or Apple Music. For example, if I prompt:
- Alexa tell blue voice use tidal to play dire straights telegraph road in the lounge – response is “Started playing in the lounge” but nothing actually plays.
- Alexa tell blue voice to use apple music to play dire straights telegraph road in the lounge – response is “Started playing in the lounge” but nothing actually plays.
- and many other variations
I know the Alexa/Blue Voice integration works because, as I said, if I stream a Tidal track directly from my phone to BluOS/NAD I can use Alexa via Blue Voice to query what is playing in the lounge at it will tell me correctly what is playing. I can pause it, raise/lower volume etc. But I can’t for the life of me get Blue Voice to initiate the playback of anything from Tidal or Apple Music.
What am I missing? Am I asking too much of BluOS?

If you have not see this webpage then it’s a good place to start with the syntax you use, room names used for your BluOS players are also important.
