Housing surface PULSE 2I

Hi, I‘am owning a BLUESOUND PULSE 2I for several years … great sound, top technic. One thing. The black surface is getting some kind of „soft“. I never used any chemics for cleaning. Now I cannot remove dust. The surface looks sticky. Any ideas? How to treat the surface? Thanks Frank

    This is an unfortunate consequence of the material used for the enclosure on these units. It is not used on the current models. I too have had this happen to a Pulse Mini.

    Some people have had success using de-natured alcohol or mineral spirits to clean the surface.

    I recently cleaned my Powernode 2i which had the same issue. After some research (and testing) the following products and method worked well:

    Products:

    • Glitz Goo and Stain Remover - available at Bunnings in Australia but you can also get it on ebay. Note that I tried a couple of different products and this one definitely works the best!
    • Cotton squares such as Swisspers or similar. Highly recommend you go with squares as this will allow you to apply the goo remover more precisely. 
    • Lint free cloths.

    Method:

    1. Disconnect the device and setup your work area. It can get a bit messy so definitely find an appropriate place and put an old towel or cloth under the device so you don't damage it (or the work surface).
    2. Spray Glitz onto a cotton square until it's fully soaked. Then use the cotton square to apply Glitz onto one section of the device. Apply liberally but be careful to only apply to the rubbery/sticky case parts. Let it sit for a minute or two.
    3. Take a lint free cloth and dampen it with water. Now rub the section covered with Glitz until the sticky goo is off. You will need to use a bit of force and add additional Glitz (using the cotton square again) until it's completely off. 
    4. Repeat the above steps section by section until the entire device is clean.
    5. Wipe off any remaining Glitz with a clean, damp cloth.
    6. Wipe off the entire device with a clean, dry cloth.
    7. Inspect and if you missed any parts, well, more rubbing is necessary :)

    Tip: be careful around the Bluesound logo in the front. Rubbing directly on it will erase it! Work around it or protect it with a small piece of tape.
