    Hi Robert.

You won't find a dedicated user guide for the Vault. But we do have a very big collection of helpful articles here on this site, and you can also access them directly from the app, Settings, Help Section, Online Support.

Vaults default encode/rip setting is FLAC. You can see and change this from the Settings menu, Music Library, Ripping and then go to Encoder Settings.

I have added a few links here to get you on the right track:

Local Library – The Bluesound Support Crew

My Library – The BluOS Support Crew

How do I Turn Off My Bluesound Player? – The Bluesound Support Crew

Eeeeh…I just bought a 1600€/$ piece of electronics that does not have a user guide?
Although I appreciate your answer I really hope you are joking?!

The only reason I bought Bluesound is because the salesmen said it was very user friendly. Without a guide and only FAQ to try and find answers this is anything but user friendly!

This seems like a good place to start: https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/sections/17720122388887-BluOS-4-0-Update

User guide may not be that much use, as BluOs have done some major changes, to the interface recently. The Node is designed to be left on all the time, the Vault maybe the same? You can always unplug it from the power, if you go away.
    I would not believe salesmen.

Without a proper user guide I am basically just trying and learning by doing. Sounds fine but isn't if when I am done ripping all my CDs in a few weeks I am finding out that things were not ripped the way I wanted or not cataloged the way I wanted or etcetcetc

First Problem arose: A Taylor Swift CD was ripped and displayed as "Distortion due to Static"....so I thought wow....this is some smart device....it actually checks to see if the rip was ok and if not, it reports the problem (in this case static electricity)....It took me a few minutes to figure out the Vault simply mistakes the ripped CD for a CD by the Roots called "Distortion to static"...

Great...so I guess I must delete the CD and try again...and hope it gets recognized correctly this time?

CD 1 of Taylor Swifts "Speak now" (Taylors version) does not show up at all...although the Vault seems to be ripping, I do not see the Album in my library.
CD 2 does rip and does show up in the library but it shows as a CD of "the Roots".

    Now what?
I can not find anything about deleting ripped CDs in the FAQ.

Maybe deleting is not possible to prevent defragmentation of the Hard Drive?
That would mean I better be absolutely sure of the CDs I want to rip (as in only my absolute Favourites cause done is done?)

Does not sound good, I would be returning it for a refund.

I know people who use other brands without problems.

It has ripped about 10 other CDs without a problem and without me doing anything other than inserting the CDs. So the device is not broken. I also dont give up easily so no returning.

Only the 1 Album (consisting of CD1 and CD2) does not work properly.

It must be a database problem as fas as CD2 concers (ripped but recognized with wrong artist and titles)
I just need info on how to tell the Vault to find other Metadata (as you can do with Apple)

Why CD1 does not show up at all I dont understand.
I am going to try to find the Vault on my PC over the network to try and read the HDD (so I can see if this ripped CD is stored but simply not showing in the library or not ripped at all)

Metadata is only as good as the source where the vault fetches it. I think in the past bluesound support have asked to report errors in metadata resulting from a rip by a bluesound device so they can evaluate the database in use.

In my opinion, no database is without errors and this is why I always do my metadata manually.

    Hi Robert

Please select Settings, Send Support Request in the BluOS App. This will send us a log file we can (as Alain suggested) pass to our Metadata Content Provider to correct these in future rips. Please let us know the Album title and Artists that WAS ripped compared to WHAT SHOULD BE ripped when you submit the request.

If you decide to do the manual route of adjusting metadata, here is how you access the VAULT Storage using a PC; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000480068

Don't forget to select Settings, Music Library to update your Index or Settings, Diagnostics, Rebuild Index to purge and rebuild your index. Purging is required if you change album artwork.
