    Hi Peter

We have made some changes here. Please remove the USB drive from your NODE 2 then follow these instructions; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360037137354

The goal here is to not only make the USB connection more reliable but also open up the content for multiple players.

If you are still having issues, please select Settings, Send Support Request from the new Home Screen so we may review your player log.

Thanks, Tony. I tried the instructions seemingly without success but various combinations of disconnecting and rebooting seem to have done the trick and I can now see my USB content.

Tony W, I have mobile devices running both 4.0 and also the old version. None of my devices are now able to see the USB port as an input choice. I have rebooted, re-indexed, inserted and removed various usb drives, and pulled power multiple times without any result. The node shows my NAS library, HDMI Arc and Bluetooth inputs just fine. As most of my most current music I play is from my USB drives, this is more than just inconvenient. It has left me with a most un-usable device. My node device is what I listen to 75% of the time so this 4.0 upgrade has caused major problems. Please let me know what else I can do to return this unit to the fabulous product it used to be. Many thanks for your help with this.

Thanks. That was quick. I will try.

Hi Tony. Nothing changes when I remove the drive, and nothing asked after reinserting it.

I have the same problem and have sent a support report.

I tried your link above, but when I go to the Player tab there's no Player notification pop up.

    exactly Tobias!
    same here
beginning to think this update did not even consider the usb connection, or something broke with the new code

    Hi Andy

Same process for C368 with USB drive plugged into the BluOS MDC.

    Tobias

In the BluOS App, check Settings, Music Library and see if Server Mode is Enabled. Disable it then remove and re-insert the drive. This should reprompt you. If you select NO, USB will appear as it did prior to 4.x and Yes will include the USB drive as part of your Local Library.

Works now. What I did: user interface disable Bluos 4.0. You return to version 3. Still no USB stick as input, but you can select ‘folders’ and then you get the player, click through and you get the folders in the version 3 way. You can then click to play (Hi-Res)

I've got my NAD CI720 and USB drive working as previously = as expected. I did follow Tony W. instructions:

"In the BluOS App, check Settings, Music Library and see if Server Mode is Enabled. Disable it then remove and re-insert the drive. This should reprompt you. If you select NO, USB will appear as it did prior to 4.x and Yes will include the USB drive as part of your Local Library."

So I disabled "Server Mode", wait a moment, reinsert USB drive and wait a moment for a prompt "Share USB drive with other players on this network?". I did choose "NO" and than I wait few moments to get USB drive re-indexed (green led on my device). After few moments USB drive got accessible as in version 3.0 with all features (sort, search, folders access) as it was in BluOs 3.0.

Thanks Tony W. - your instructions did a thing!

Now I did check my local Music Library. USB files were not included. But not all files from network drives were accessible (even if were shown). So I went to Settings -> Music Library and did "Reindex". It took a while (as during fresh indexing).... but finally all files in Music library got in place and are accessible. And USB drive stays as separate drive.

Finally: I'm on BluOS 4.0 (with all its features) and with USB drive and Music Library available as it was previously. Perfect :)

This needs to get fixed immediately - same problem.  Library won’t even show.  As many have mentioned - this is a huge reason I have BluOS to begin with.

also - the fact that this post says “answered” isn’t correct either.

4.0...Where was the rush for this "non-update"?

I shared the same problem as my unfortunate fellow friends with my USB stick. After a few trial and error exercises which are time consuming, let us not forget, and the removal of the non-update, I was finally able to read my USB stick. And please, don't tell me that I should have disabled the server mode...next time you update your products, please take your time and do your testings keeping in mind that we, audiophile users, deserve at least a little bit of respect from your part. I have lost (again) a bit of innocence in this whole process...

last night, after taking out of server mode, then plugging back in the HD cable to the USB port, it recognized the drive finally, did a re-index (about 200K of songs, took a while), and now all appears to be working as before under version 3!  thank you

This is the most ridiculous situation. Echo all the frustrations above. Why this upgrade was not fully tested in a real world environment before release completely baffles me. I have followed all the tech support instructions and nothing works. I have no access to my entire music library.

I tried turning off the Nodes and back on again, rebooting my router, and I can even get the onscreen prompts to Enable Server Mode to appear.

I own 2 Nodes and tried moving my USB Drive to the 2nd Node. The prompts appeared, but then when it came to reindexing the collection, nothing happened. I still cannot see my USB Drive or Folders as an option. This is is bad. Come on, Bluesound. Do better!

Same problem with my unit. Have submitted tickets for assistance but no reply yet. USB connectivity is one of my main sources of content so this 4.0 issue is a serious issue.

Hi Tony. I can access the files in the usb stick, but not the way I would prefer it. In the past, I can choose to play either from music library stored in my NAS, or those in my USB drive separately. Now, it's combined and blend it into 1 music library. I do not want the music files stored in my USB drive to show up in my music library.

For me it's a big lost - I cannot manege USB device as separate source from the menu. I can add USB disk as another Library path (by enabling Server Mode!!) but it's not anymore recognized as "independent" source of audio files. What in short means:

    - you cannot sort and search USB as separate device (by artist, albums, genre, etc)

-. All files from USB are now part of "Library" so when you sort by artist you can find few same results with no differentiation, which are from USB?)

    - when you decide not to enable "Server Mode" = not to share your USB files with whole notwork, you will not get access to your USB music files at all.

I believe this approach is just a mistake. USB disk should be available in the menu as separate source of music. As it wa available in ver. 3**

Or at least we should have a choice to treat USB as a separate source or a part of Library (Server Mode).

Hope direct USB access is easy to "restore" from ver. 3

    cheers,

If this loss of USB functionality cannot be remedied, please advise on how to revert to last working v3 so we can continue to enjoy the Node as it worked before. No improvement seen so far in v4 is worth losing the use of the USB port.

I have had same issue as above since the install Tuesday night
USB does not show even as an option, I have the BluOS module in my NAD C368
Have an 8 TB hard drive attached, all FLAC, never an issue to play from it
Now, USB has just "disappeared" as an option, not good

Or at least we should have a choice to treat USB as a separate source or a part of Library (Server Mode).

You still can - as mentioned in the official comment, the Help Centre Article indicates how to do that; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360037137354

Is the process any different when using the NAD C368 with BluOS module?  I plug the hard drive in to the module, drive starts and almost immediately stops.  Even in the app on my iPhone, if I push it to reindex, does 1 song then immediately stops.  And to be clear, the USB never shows in the app as an option

In the BluOS App, check Settings, Music Library and see if Server Mode is Enabled. Disable it then remove and re-insert the drive. This should reprompt you.

    Hi Tony

This worked, thank you. I selected NO and the USB appeared as in v3, but selecting YES did NOT include the USB drive as part of my local library. There is no local library in my app. If I understand correctly, I should have it as part of my local library to take full advantage of v4. Is this correct?

Edit: But once I again disabled server mode, and without doing anything else, a local library appeared. But trying to play a song, I get an error message denying access to the file, saying there is no such file. I have to confess I never tried to play a song after selecting NO.

I tried to tap library and folders, but there was no folder to select there.

Edit 2: After redoing the procedure and selecting NO, I can play music from the USB drive. The Library is still there, but I can't play any music from it.

Tony, can you tell the development team what they have done to all audiophile enthousiasts? Maybe next time they can figure this one out before the launch. By the way, still not working with me, but I’ll keep trying your advices. Otherwise I have to replace my M10.

Oh, you can only play track by track this way. It will not move to the next song in the album. So DJ until I find how to get around this

Hi Tony, you said: ‘In the BluOS App, check Settings, Music Library and see if Server Mode is Enabled. Disable it ’ this screen then freezes and you need to reboot the app. No desired result

I have submitted two support tickets on this issue and have only been told the same thing-enable/disable the server function. This dies not work. The usb input never shows up in the app and the Node never changes color state on the LED to indicate that it is indexing. For all intents and purposes, the usb input is gone from my unit. Until this is corrected in v4.0, there needs to be a simple way to revert to v3. Most of my local content is on usb media and now I cannot play any if it. I need real help here in restoring what was a superb unit. Thank you!
