    Thanks for your enthusiasm Edward

Starting at 9:00 am North American ET this morning, we will launch BluOS 4.0.2. BluOS Players call home once every 24 hours for a firmware update check.

You will need both your Players and Apps updated. iOS, Android and The BluOS App for Windows and macOS will also be launched this morning. Google Play and The App Store usually cycle 48-72 hours if you are on automatic downloads.

We do hope to have everyone up and dancing well in time for the weekend...

I'm happy with the improvements, at least from the small amount of time spent using it. I LOVE the fact that you can actually see the resolution now, instead of just "MQA" or "MAX."

    Well done.

All systems are go, all aspects are on phased rollout per individual supporting platform rules.  It has begun!

Bluesound Team, may I humbly suggest before announcing any new release, you have employees or a group of volunteer beta testers thoroughly use the software and various devices (C700, M10) on all platforms (iOS, Android), for weeks at home and at work.

It’s ridiculous how many bugs are in this release. Surely with proper QA you would have seen such things as LCD Temporary Display not working. There’s not a whole lot of functions to test. It’s just poor customer service to hype the promise of the release of new software that ends up disappointing customers. Just keep it a secret and release it when you fix all the obvious bugs. Not hard to do or plan for.

Bluesound are in Canada and still in bed, UK time updates normally about 5pm(ish).

It would be silly to release a major update without everyone in support being awake.

I really like the edits/improvements that have been made.

Not a dramatic overhaul... but a most welcome update for sure.

Thanks Anthony, this is a platform change for us as well, baseline for the future, overall development changes as we lesson the app workload and have BluOS do more of the heavy lifting, leaving "native" and other elements to be able to be used more.  Much more to follow over time

@guy - yes iOS is the slowest to roll out, first 24-hours is small, this is their policy.  We cannot speed up their staged roll out until after it crosses a time threshold without and critical failures.

Some bugs on the IOS Controller app:
    - Poor Cover-Resolution
    - Titel or Artist is not shown correctly in horizontal view
    - Volume bar is not shown correctly in vertical view
    - Player side: buttons are not shown correctly

    I was expecting a new design. Disappointing…

@igor, android is on phased rollout, so it will come in time, the desktop app feedback is given to the devs

Pfffff 11mb update and it took so long. What a lounge.......

It is a problem to upload pictures right now. So it will be by description for now.

home screen 2 cm black at top, why waisting 2 cm with black information?
    settings audio
strange grey text, that you can read partial, because it is longer as the screen and you can not move anything
Letterype is strange bold and not pleasant to read.

When from home screen, using most used and than Tune IN -> not able to search within the next screen, just scrolling to find something

Also at home screen, most used, you can not "program" a default action behind a button. There are 2 fixed options. Quite unusefull

Within settings under diagnostic and software information, still old font used, not all is in the same style.

Mhhh there is still a lot of room for improvement. Overall quite disappointing update based on the rumors and information there was before this "launch"

    Hi Michael

Andrew commented on that very subject on a thread more specific about TIDAL here; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16050576965783/comments/18363243965591

    ...it's coming

phased rollout for both apps has ended, everyone will get updated soon!  We have been cleared by both

The new interface certainly looks fresher compared to the previous installment.

My only gripe is there is still no universal search function.

I love the Bluesound products, I really do, but with respect, Sonos for example, has been doing this for almost 10 years if I'm not mistaken.

Why is there no beta test group before the launch?

It seems that the 4.0 is not tested outside Bluesound at all.

    Play now screen is improved.
I try all times to swipe this screen down, but that do not work. You have to click it down.

Is not logic and could be updated as well.

The playlist cleaning is also when switching back to the old interface. So this is a firmware matter.

Question: what will be the result of all feedback?

    Hello Andrew,

That's bad news but thanks for confirming.

seems like the beta testing started this week.

we are all in the beta test group. (although the whole thing behaves more like an alpha version).

@Petercharlesg - we did 2 betas, over 2 months worldwide to work through issues.  And with 80 devices and a large significant amount of change it is hard to find everything.  We are internally not satisfied and will work to improve, but as this is the largest release we have ever done we are proud of what we have accomplished as a team.

@Brian - the next update will be support for Dirac bass control.

I was for a long time head of product development/marketing in the telco industry and one of my teams developed router. You can have as many beta tests as you want but in the end there will be plenty of bugs that shine through only in special situations or combinations. Therefore I can understand the team.
Now it is time to fix them quickly.

I am more annoyed that there is still no apple silicon native mac client.

Thanks Guido, so true...  For Apple we are talking to their team, and discussing all aspects.  We are optimistic for the future, but again this is entirely up to them to give us access.  We have a fantastic relationship with the Airplay team and that is something the team has done a stellar job with.  Apple notes that we are one of the few companies that keeps up to date with the airplay firmware release and we have recertified our 38+ products that support it now multiple times

@peter - no need to apologize, each of us passionately expresses how we feel.  Honestly if you weren't excited and passionate about music and listening and using our products then we would never talk.  Have you ever heard the comment "2-steps forward, 1-step back"? sometimes when you fix something like a spider web it affects something else, unforeseen.  And as the button pushes and "what is connected to what", what handset/tablet/network/ conditions all affect something sometimes you miss stuff.  At the same time we are updating core BluOS, this means that there are many changes to how the hardware/buttons/processors and everything reacts.  So you do as much testing as you can, think you have them and then something shows up.  The good news is that our team is just that "ours" and we see the issues, replicate them and fix them as quickly as possible.  For the logic thoughts that are shared, the UI team reviews them for possible future changes

After two days of intensive use (NAD C658), I did not find any problems and am very pleased with the application itself, apart from problems with high-res Tidal files. But as it turns out, this is a problem with Tidal itself and they promise to fix everything soon. We wait...

    @Guy

    1) LiveOne is a Radio Streams (so is TuneIn, Radio Paradise, Radio.com and some others). They do not have queue so there is no queue to replace... this is not new and was in BluOS 3.x too

    2) Thanks - it may take as long as 30 seconds. If it's longer than that let us know... but its part of the reporting logic polled periodically rather than the instant reporting that playback provides

    3) Part of the TIDAL API - which Andrew lobbies for

    4) Passing that along to our App designers (...and yeah I'm still not happy how the Blue Jays season ended... and this is driven by your phone's language. I can confirm Android ste to UK says Favourites)

    5) Andrew forgot the asterisk that this is on certain NAD products but we are excited about it too

Haven't experienced any bugs with the new update yet. I would like the audio settings to be more easily accessible as I like to shut my subs off and run my speakers full range at night time and change between my different Dirac presets.

    Dear BluOs4 Support Team,

I recently upgraded to the BluOs4 application and would like to share my user experience. I am currently using an iPhone 14 Pro with the latest operating system, as well as an iPad 10.5 Pro.

Firstly, I must express my disappointment with the frequency of application crashes. This was not an issue I encountered with the previous version of the application.

Secondly, I have experienced issues with the integration of the Tidal service. There have been instances where I am prompted to add the Tidal service, even though it is already connected. The process of logging out of Tidal and adding the service again seems counterintuitive.

Additionally, I have encountered frequent "remote server error" messages approximately every 10 minutes.

Another point of frustration is the graphical user interface (GUI) not being optimized for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. The misalignment of labels and buttons makes for a less than optimal user experience.

And on that point it is not possible to exit the screen:

    Overlapping…again:

I press upper right and menu appear down left? Usability?!

Furthermore, the placement of notifications that obstruct touchable buttons is quite inconvenient. This often occurs when I add a song to a playlist or queue, and the "back" button is obscured by the notification. I have reached out to your support team via the zen helpdesk, but have yet to receive a response or solution to this issue:

And here, German / English mixed Menu:

I truly wish I could provide more positive feedback about the software, as I use it to enjoy music on my NAD10v2, Vault2i, and PowerVault 2i. I hope these issues can be addressed in a timely manner to improve the user experience for all.

Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I look forward to a prompt resolution to these issues.

    Sincerely,

    Christopher

Hi Christopher, tickets are in sequence and being responded to, and the "auto-reply" message which normally would be accurate hasn't been updated for the increase for the 4.0 release.  We have identified the BluOS level bug for the explicit filter and it will be fixed.  I can appreciate this is an annoyance and would ask for your patience while we continue to normalize 4.0

I figured we might be going by Canada time on this one. Here in Australia we're a bit ahead (15 hours to be exact) and patiently waiting :). Good luck to all involved and let's hope it's a good release day!
