@Bozidar Munjas Apple music has its own lossless format ALAC instead of FLAC, I've compared both and think that there is more dept in flac. ALAC sounds a little lossy compared to Tidal. Tidal provides exceptionell sound quality and The only one who beats them are Qobuz BUT Qobuz UI are rubish..

@Jan wrote: "As I said before I will sell my two Node streamers as they do not provide Tidal hires FLAC support!  I do not care about MQA. They were supposed to let MQA die and not buy and now play the game who lasts longer... Customers or Bluesound?"

Sure, I'll chime in. You clearly had a Tidal subscription. You bought two Nodes in order to listen to it. Tidal did not offer any hi-res files in FLAC until very recently. You didn't have a Qobuz account — which would have spared your ears from the hororrs of MQA. So I'm a little confused: why did you buy into the combination of Tidal and Bluesound, if the only hi-res format you'd be able to listen to was, until a month ago, MQA?

Forgive me if I misread your post, or if you bought the Nodes in anticipation of Bluesound's implementation of Tidal's new hi-res FLAC stuff. Still, it begs the question: if FLAC is all you want — and it seems that it's very important to you — why not ditch Tidal and go for Qobuz, which offers FLAC exclusively? That way you can keep your Nodes, and stream in FLAC. And when Bluesound and Tidal finally get their act together, you can come back to Tidal and (hopefully) choose between FLAC and MQA, unless you're satisfied with Qobuz.

Many albums in Tidal have changed to hires-flac, MQA version no longer available. The track was down sampling from 24/96 to cd quality when playing on bluesound. Please release the update ASAP!

Thank you for the information. Now it is clear to me that they are a bunch of liars. I don't care anymore. My first Node has already been replaced by another streamer and the second one is not used much so both will be for sale.

Seems like the conversation is going South here. Just confused as:

    1. All of us using Tidal/Bluesound bought our Bluesound equipment powered by Tidal during a time when there were already FLAC options out there. (e.g. Qobuz) With Tidal, we choose MQA
    2. Bluesound can also play Qobuz directly, all you need to do is to change subscription and you are done. Same goes for Apple Music. We may all prefer Tidal, but how is this a deal-breaker for the hardware?

Myself, I do look forward to HiRes FLAC and just as everyone else, I wish the API provision/software upgrade happened faster. But I am also very pleased with Tidal as a music library and my set of Bluesound players (Pulse Flex, 2 Powernode, NAD C399 w BluOS and NAD C368 with BluOS). I think the way Bluesound integrates Tidal into solid HiFi hardware is excellent.

But yeah, still longing however a couple of months will not impact my decision. And yeah, I guess there will be a bunch of streamers I can pick-up cheap from this confused crowd. Just need a bigger house...

@ Robert Jessing, yep, this is exactly what I was saying in reponse to @ Jan's post. above. And one more thing: for those of you who are going to buy an Eversolo instead, good luck getting actual 24/192 Apple Music streams onto your new streamer. It sure won't happen via Airplay 2. (In fact, if your source hardware (i.e., iPhone/iPad) and your endpoint (Eversolo. Node, WiiM, whatever) is also an Airplay 2 enabled device, you might find that your vaunted "hi-fi" experience is actually less than CD quality:

There are some problems with this point:

    1. Qobuz is not available everywhere. For example in my country Hungary.

    2. Apple Music wireless streaming is limited, because it's only working with Airplay 2 what's bandwidth is maximum 24/44.1.

So in this case we are heavily restricted regarding usage.

    @ Guy Saddy

Eversolo runs Apple Music natively on it's OS, because it's android based and pre-installed. In this case you need your phone as remote controller. Don't need to use the app form your phone.

@ Otisz get a VPN. It ain't hard, they're everywhere, and then you can avoid MQA by going to Qobuz, and be happy forever. And google how to use you existing credit card to sign into and pay for U.S. services. In Canada, we only recently received access to Qobuz and yet, lo and behold, there were tons of people accessing Qobuz through a U.S. account. Funny that.

And as I wrote above, if you're using an Airplay 2 source component and endpoint, then you're not getting 24/44.1. You're not even getting CD quality. Much less, according to that Darko piece.

@ Otisz I thought — and please correct me if I'm wrong — that Sonos was the only player to run Apple Music natively. (And it, of course, tops out at 24/44 or 48 — forget which). Are you sure about it running Apple Music natively? If so, I retract that part.

    @ Guy Saddy

I am an IT guy, so I can get VPN if I want, but to be honest I don't want. Because it's cost money and effort. I bought a plug and paly device, so if the service(in this case Tidal) supports multiple formats than manufacturer don't want to limit me because of some "background agreement".

Yes I am pretty sure it does, check it on the YouTube reviews. ;)

@ Otisz, okay you're right! It's not "natively supported" but you can download the Android version of the Apple Music app and work around the Airplay 2 limitations. Thanks for this, and apologies for my mistake.

    @ Guy Saddy

I just have Apple mobile devices, so I alos don't want to buy another one just for making shortcuts because I am still limited by the manufacturer. I want to use the service itself with all of the capabilities. :)

@Otisz, I understand the limitations on Qobuz and Apple Music, living in Asia myself. I do always dislike VPNs.

That said, I cannot fathom why some people are looking to sell their equipment, because of a few months delay in service deployment, and buy inferior gadgets which come with many other challenges. Hang on there, Bluesound usually does a very clean and working integration. Have discussed many other issues in this forum, all solved by now.

Just think on technical way. Tidal released a new feature with new version of API. Bluesound just need to update BluOS to use the new API to able to access for HiRes FLAC library. Like some other manufacturers already did it. Of course this could take a while but they still does not communicated any approximate date neither. This is the problem IMHO.

Just for accuracy. I don't have any problems with MQA. My problem is(what happens many times already) if a track or album does not have MQA just HiRes FLAC. I this case on my Node I have to listen CD quality. Despite it has HiRes version as well.

I have Bluesound speakers and sub, but those of you with only the Node Streamer are in the best spot. There are so many options out there.

Still having a great time with Roon and Qobuz on my Bluesound system, but looking forward to my next step.

    Free Your Mind 😉

    @Robert

First of all, no one have to switch another platform since Tidal delivering hires music either flac or mqa. Doesn’t matter. And Nobody have to do workarounds since they already paid money for a device on purpose. Basically, currently Bluesound doesn’t deliver service as it supposed to do. Yes I still enjoy mqa as well but most of my mqa albums replaced with Flac format and currently I’m paying for tidal plus but I’m listening only cd quality because of a stupid business decision. All on all, I paid money to a device which is not useful anymore and also I’m paying money to Tidal which I’m not able to listen hires music. In that case, Bluesound makes us stupid.

@Guy Saddy - After spending more than a year trying every hack to access Qobuz, I can verify that a VPN is not enough to get around geographical restrictions. In recent years, Qobuz only accepts payments originating in authorized countries.

    @Guy Saddy, Robert Jessing

Your outcome is a bit shortsighted. If justified critics are a 'conversation going south', well played...

You seem to forget that we bought this product because of it's excellent sound  (especially for the price performance)and because it features various streaming services and Tidal is part of this program. Sure you can argue that tidal was pushing another container at the time when we bought the node. It was unnerving for me to move from Spotify to Tidal because it took a lot of time and effort to arrange all the playlists and search for all the bands again. Also I personally listen to some 'under radar' stuff that is not available in Qobuz.

I don't go so far like some others here that I will sell the Node. But I think I won't buy another product of BS if they keep this up. It's been months now and nothing has happened.

Suggesting VPN and other doubtful patchwork methods which could result in a ban because of terms and conditions of the companies is very questionable.

Qobuz offers flac so it is possible for the node to support it with Tidal aswell. On my PC I can listen to Tidal hires-flac content no problem via headphones and a soundcard. So I have a hard time understanding why it takes so long for Bluesound to make it happen.

With all due respect, I have the impression that tidal is doing everything so that we can listen to high-res files, but bluesound does not give us this opportunity. If this is done deliberately, they will lose fans and it's a shame...

POURQUOI c’est aussi long pour bluesound de diffuser le flac hd de tidal ???

Genuine question. Do any of the following platforms support Hi-Res FLAC as the Tidal Max default format?:

    • HEOS
    • DTS Play-Fi
    • MusicCast
    • Sonos
    • StreamMagic
    • Roon

    What other platforms support it?

While the vitriol is spewing here, has anyone checked Tidal’s official support page on this topic (see link below)?

    https://support.tidal.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004565898-TIDAL-Connect

It reads: “HiRes FLAC is currently not supported through TIDAL Connect. Support will be added later in 2023.”

Translation: Tidal is still working on this with their partners, including Bluesound, and has not changed this “later in 2023” commitment since inception months ago. Not sure why some folks are losing it here. Especially given the fact that Tidal has 5 million users, some who have been paying good money for the top tier option and enjoying the listening experience long before FLAC was an option, and if high res FLAC was such a game changer, why does Qobuz, which has offered high res FLAC at 24/192 for years, only have 200,000 customers?  That’s a mere 4% of Tidal’s customer base.

Would appreciate an update on when this will happen, however, including user selectable format—in November or December?
