Volume level per input/source
AnsweredDear Bluesound Support
To me this is more a bug than a feature ….
If I read through the support entries, it seems that several users struggling with and complaining about the volume level, which can’t be set/adjusted for a certain input (BluOS, HDMI, optical etc.).
The workaround with a preset is a workaround, but the cool thing about auto-sense is less user interaction. Therefore a solution is highly appreciated, especially as the volume differences between the inputs/sources are extreme (mentioned several times as well).
Why shouldn’t it be possible to solve this issue? Either by the possibility to remember/store the last volume level of an input/source or store/set a fixed volume level per input/source? It’s software. From a user perspective, this must be an easy thing…
Beside of that, my PowerNode 2i is one of the best buys of my life :-)

@Jim If only there was a true alternative for the NAD C685... I'd have made the switch immediately because of this issue. The lack of communication regarding this issue from Tony is ridiculous. He should be held accountable for this, as the product support manager.

No response from the "Product Support Manager" for 1 year. This means there is no product support.
I solved the issue by gave up. I stopped using bluos product for multiple sources.
No expectation, no problem.

I just bought the latest Powernode n331. This is a major problem. Watching TV and I have to turn the volume up. Then switching to another source, like Apple TV or music from my NAS, the volume is a lot louder. I don't dare let the rest of the family use the amplifier because of this. Blown out speakers, or worse, eardrums.
Should this not be an easy fix? On the soundbar+ from Bluesound there is a setting that’s called “volume leveler”.
According to Bluesound: “Enable to maintain consistent playback volume levels regardless of the source selection or content.”
Why not implement something like that to the Powernodes?

This is the biggest single miss that the BluOS products have imo, and I am sure it would be easy to fix. I love my C700, but this is just ridiculous. Can't recommend BluOS based products anymore. Too bad I invested so much money in this eco system.

Honestly thinking of switching to wiim, mostly because of the frustration of how users get ignored. This topic is 5 years old, and never any update. For an ecosystem of this price range I would expect better.

It's laughable that they keep ignoring this thread. Just straight up ignorance and incompetence to do what they get paid for.

Yeah look... I have been appreciative of all the Dirac updates and all but this is still a sticking issue for me. This feature is such and easy win... I am starting to get angry at the lack of feedback on this.

Yeah, they really don’t care for their customers, do they? Their “equipment” are not exactly cheap, so they should at least listen to what “we” have to say, and ask for.
And this would actually make the amplifier really good (and usable). I’m almost certain that I will return my Powernode because of this. God Help us if we forget to lower the volume before we change the source.
For now I’ll keep using my soundbar+. It does not sound nearly as good for stereo music listening, but it’s way better for TV and Movies thanks to the “Volume Level” setting that’s keeps the volume consistent between sources.
Bluesound just give us that kind of “control” for the Powernode.

I think we need to bombard all relevant support channels. I just contacted the german NAD support again ( I did that many years ago already).
But I am really thinking about selling my gear. Maybe I get enough for my NAD C700 (gen1) and two Blusound Pulse Flex 2i (together around 2100€ originally) to buy a Wiim Amp Ultra and two Wiim Sound/Lite (should be 1150-1300€). Maybe the amp section in the C700 is slightly better than than in the Ultra - but with the Ultra I get a touch screen (and a screen with much more functionality than on the C700 in general), more power, and room correction (which C700 gen1 does not have). I'll do a sound comparisson to my Wiim Amp Pro from my secondary system next week (when the kids are away) so I get a better Idea of what to expect (I saw reviews that say that the Ultra is not necessarily better than the Pro when it comes to the sound).
Its a realy sad situation, because it also drags down all the brands that use BluOS. I was always a big NAD fan, but this is over now, although it might not be their fault at all. Blusound realy needs to get their head out of the sand. The time when BluOS was the best solution is over. I can only speak for WIIM, but I guess Eversolo and other companies are also not sleeping.

I agree with you Chris, I'll try to see what I can do as well, possibly through the Dutch distributor for NAD (although I don't think they'll be happy with me contacting them for a request like this).
So sad to see a brand fall off like this.
Though, I am yet to find an all-in-one preamp like the NAD C685 or M66 from a different brand. If someone else has suggestions, please do let me and us know.1 -
If any person based in Canada or the US could also help, bombarding NAD/Bluesound/Lenbrook with calls could also be a possibility for getting it to their attention.

Honestly Matthijs, I think Wiim has great alternatives for an amp. If they would have had one with HDMI at the time I bought my powernode,it would have been my choice back then. By now they have it and my brother bought it with exactly the same speakers I have. I cant hear any difference. But he paid a lot less. Wiim even has free room correction and their subwoofers are much more affordable too.

Bas, thank you for the reply. Honestly, I don’t think Wiim would suit my needs. I have active Genelec speakers so I just need a streaming preamp with enough source inputs and regular pre outputs. I don’t think Wiim has that

I have to agree with Matthijs. The connectivity on the Wiims is decent, but depending on the use case it might not be enough. The Wiim Amp Ultra for example only has one Aux in and one optical in. My old CD player only has coax digital out and Aux out and I have my viny deck. So I can't use both. The Wiim Ultra Streamer has an additional phono in. But if I want to keep my separate phono pre amp this still doesn't work. Unfortunately, the Wiim products are less focused on more classical systems with many sources. NAD and similar brands are better for such use cases. Wiim on thr other hand is great when it comes to the Software. Wouldn't it be great to have both?
