Volume level per input/source
AnsweredDear Bluesound Support
To me this is more a bug than a feature ….
If I read through the support entries, it seems that several users struggling with and complaining about the volume level, which can’t be set/adjusted for a certain input (BluOS, HDMI, optical etc.).
The workaround with a preset is a workaround, but the cool thing about auto-sense is less user interaction. Therefore a solution is highly appreciated, especially as the volume differences between the inputs/sources are extreme (mentioned several times as well).
Why shouldn’t it be possible to solve this issue? Either by the possibility to remember/store the last volume level of an input/source or store/set a fixed volume level per input/source? It’s software. From a user perspective, this must be an easy thing…
Beside of that, my PowerNode 2i is one of the best buys of my life :-)

Thanks for your feedback Rolf
It has been passed along to our Product Development Team.

Hi Bluesound
Rolf is right!
I'm the happy owner of a Powernode N330. It's an incredible product!
But! I'm using it with Tidal, my television (eARC) and a turntable. Three very different sound volumes. When going from one input to another the experience far from smooth. Can you please fix this in some way?
Thanks, and all the best to everyone

Same here, a volume normalization per source or rembering preset would be nice

Thanks Tony
Would be nice to get an update like it will be considered or not. As mentioned, it seems like this has been requested for long time, but never answered with a yes we'll do or no we won't.
Best regards

I am also here to upvote this topic. I have maxed out my TV but everytime I start playing a song via Spotify connect it almost blows my speakers.
Just a setting in the source menu "remember volume level" would solve this issue.
Is there already any work done regarding this topic?

Any update on a volume offset feature for each input?

Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying a Node (N103) for my TV and Spotify streaming without contemplating this would be an issue (as I've never had this one before). It has ARC for this specific use does it not?
I just bought a Node for the first time this week but am about to move it on as the volume level discrepancy between ARC and Spotify is so high that I can't change to Spotify without blasting my bookshelf speakers at extreme volumes, I simply cannot use it in its current state.
I realise I could intervene with the APP, but the beauty of Spotify connect is that you don't have to, i'm also coming from a competing product where I didn't have to.
As someone who codes for a living I struggle to see how this isn't a simple fix. Simply remembering the last volume set for a input and changing to that when the input is changed would be good enough.
I agree it should be seen as a bug, I've never had a device like this that does not allow you to adjust at the very least the default volume for the input, it really is a bare minimum when switching between multiple inputs.

Agree. This is still a major issue and has potential to damage speakers when moving from E-ARC to another source. The volume on E-ARC is way to low.

I have just purchased the NAD C3050 and this is a major issue. I have the TV playing through HDMI-eARC and the volume is very low so I need to turn it way up to hear TV shows. Then another source, in this case Tidal Connect is selected in the Tidal app and the volume is so loud it almost blows my new speakers! I have tried the presets which sort of work if you use the BluOS app exclusively to change source. The problem is the NAD remote does not honor the presets from the BluOS app. It simply sets the source and off you go BANG loud as hell again.
The competition Wiim have this feature enabled since January 2024 so it is certainly possible. Please keep up with the times BlueSound.See update 2.8.4:

I do not use the preset feature, as I never use the app itself to change sources. My TV automatically makes it switch to the HDMI eARC input, and I connect with the Spotify app directly. Same applies to others in the house or when friends come over and connect to play music with their own music streaming apps.

Totally agree with Rolf as this would be very helpful for many, myself included.
May I expand the request a bit further by proposing the same feature for Audio Delay?
After all, not all input sources require a delay.
2 -
Has there been any updates on this issue?
I see that has been reported many many times for years now.
2 -
Same thing here. Any news on this feature? Just got my new Bluesound Node, it's great, but this specific issue bugs me a lot
2 -
I was just redirected to this topic: anything worth mentioning regarding this feature since the original request was made three years ago?
On a sidenote: the fact that this is not available on a device in this pricerange kinda baffles me.

I came across this post when trying to setup my node icon. The arc volume is considerably lower than the roon ready source. So switching between the inputs is annoying due to the volume discrepancy. Given that this was originally requested 4 years ago I had no confidence that it was ever going to be fixed. So I returned the node and got a WiiM Ultra. It seems WiiM are for more receptive to user requests than bluesound and provide better value for money.

Wanted to chime in on this as someone who was put off Bluesound entirely based on this issue.
We ended up not buying a single device we demo'd solely because of this volume problem; it's common in other gear, and even very old gear often has Trim levels for different inputs at the very least, if not volume memory.
This is bonkers in this day and age, and the response from Bluesound in this thread is completely tonedeaf to the actual problem.
And before Bluesound can chime in again, no the "preset workaround" does not solve the problem for people.

Just bought a Nad m10 v2. This issue is cause me a great deal of stress.
Any update.
1 -
Well, it's not really solving the issue, because when you start playing Spotify - you don't do it via the app, so you still need to open the app to trigger the profile first.
Volume level per preset was in the previous version as well1 -
Same goes for th TV or turntable. I’m wondering if someone from Bluesound is reading with us because there has been no update from their side regarding the volume memory since three years.
1 -
Same issue here, very annoying.
Sometimes if you want to listen something really loud on the low volume level source, it goes up to 80% of max volume. I believe this could result in sound quality loss.1 -
Couldn’t we all agree that it lacks some service on Bluesound’s site?
Not hearing from them on this problem for many years is rediculous.
I had an issue with them about not be able to copy all my presets from my first Powernode to a second Powernode. You must add presets for each player individually. BS answer: “Presets are unique to each Player and do not replicate.” Also rediculous!
You can’t insert or add presets in between either. Also rediculous!
First reaction from BS is: “Please be advised that due to the high volume of calls, we are seeing approximately a 48-hour turnaround time on e-mail support.”
‘High volume of calls!’ This doesn’t surprise me a bit.1 -
I bought a Node just this morning, came across this issue and found this thread.
This was requested three years ago, and still got overlooked. It is beyond disrespectful to your customers.
Needless to say I will be returning my Node tomorrow, less than 24 hours from buying it. Wiim it is.

An update on this @Tony-W?
This is the most obvious quality of life missing feature. Using a Node to switch between a few sources, my TV HDMI eARC included. That source volume is so low, I have to increase my amplifier volume quite a bit when I watch a movie. If I forget and switch to Spotify, it will blast my ear-drums. I would like to decrease my Spotify DIGITAL source to match it with my TV HDMI eARC source.
This seems like a fairly straight-forward software feature to implement. Store on internal memory a key-value map of <source, last set digital volume>. When you have a switch output event, store the current volume of the current source, you consult that map and adjust the volume immediately to the last value of that new source. Add a checkbox in the settings to enable/disable that per-source volume control, and you got a feature.1 -
Yes, please update! Multiple people use the home stereo and when switching sources to this device the input is so low that they turn it up and when it goes back to another source it’s insanely loud. I love the device - it works flawlessly EXCEPT for this problem. Please don’t ignore it.
1 -
Same problem. Had hoped the latest update might contain a fix, but no. Really hoping for this feature soon

I can't believe they still ignore this. I love my C700, but this is just not acceptable. And now that I needed a streaming solution for my office, it was totally clear to me that it would not be Bluesound or NAD. So I went with a WIIM Amp Pro. Just testing it out, and it sounds amazing with my old Dynaudio Excite X12s. And the app is just great. But does it have volume/gain presets per input, for 25% of the C700s price? You bet it has... and not just that, but even EQ per Input.

Wiim is amazing. They releases new version of app/firmware almost weekly to monthly. Every time I reported small/big issues, they addressed it in the next release.
I deeply regret my decision of moving to nad although I really love the sound of my M33.

Audio delay of at least 50ms is required for multiroom grouping, a foundation of BluOS and what it can do.

With the last app update (BluOS 4, few weeks ago) I get now the possibility to define presets including volume level per preset. With defining the first few presets to different sources with different volume levels it was possbile to me to solve the issue of getting blown away while changing from one to another source, by having them selectable on the main/entry page. Even though it took three years to solve, thx
