We deeply value your feedback and appreciate your input. As a result, we have decided to reschedule the release of BluOS 4.0 to October. While our initial plan was for a spring launch, we are committed to incorporating your valuable insights in this release, resulting in the best possible version of BluOS. We aim to create a truly exceptional experience for you and are excited to deliver on that promise.

10 years of BluOS, hopefully now they are willing to introduce a Shuffle function. :)

Looks exciting but I REALLY hope that it is not just a reskin without any maintenance/upgrades/overhauls underneath...

Nothing in the press release mentioned any sort of work being done to the underlying architecture to improve responsiveness, etc., which is what I would assume is cause most of the bugs and issues which people encounter.

In any event, crossing my fingers that this will be the the answers to all of my prayers!

Just hoping they add support for "real multiroom", without having to recreate groups... But from the article, it "just sounds like" and app redesign. But who knows.

I really hope 2 particular requested features are included:

Search not restricted to exact text string.

Option to sort albums using the Sort Album field.

These are the 2 things that the lack of currently make me struggle using the app.

    JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION.

There is nothing I find exciting in the future 4.0 release, it's mostly cosmetic, moving things around, cleaning things up, etc. I was hoping to see an easier way to manage playlists. Easily remove, rearrange, sort songs straight from the playlists itself and not have to go into the Play queue to do this. This has been a long-awaited feature/request from a lot of people on this board.

I use a Bluesound ecosystem in my home that includes, Vault 2i, B400s, a Pulse and a few battery-operated Flex's. I also have a Roon Nucleus+ and this is where Bluesound is falling behind and I was hoping it was a direction it would go in.

Last year Roon introduced Roon ARC a separate app that lets you stream you entire Roon library from your Roon, in this case my Nucleus+, to your mobile device anywhere you are. It even supports Apple Carplay & Roon recently added Android Auto for ARC. Now this is innovation. I was hoping Bluesound would be announcing something similar. I have Roon streaming from my Vault 2i to my phone connected to Apple Carplay. No need for Sirius anymore, I have all my playlists to choose from and not to mention the individual songs I now have access to. Why can't I stream my Bluesond Vault 2i library, to my iPhone or to my car? That would be a great feature and I can eliminate my Roon Nucleus+

I will still continue to invest in the Bluesound system, but it would be nice if they can move to the forefront and come out with some truly innovative features.

    Just my 2 cents.

I think they are afraid to release 4.0. The expectations are very high and wil get higher the longer they wait. Are there any bèta testers here?

I'm hoping they finally fix the long-standing issue where the controller shows the wrong release date (and track count) for albums with the same name. Really screws things up when attempting to view an artist's albums sorted by release date!

Or that they've put some effort into handling larger artwork (like almost every other piece of music software/hardware seems to accomplish without all the extra messing around)

Oh no, at 2:58 of the youtube video, the narrator says, "in here, we're going to add a quality indicator."

I seriously hope it's not the same icons BlueSound has used before, but it's actually detailed info showing bit rate, bit depth and sampling rate?!

Here's my my Wiim app screenshot showing detailed info for every track, which BluOS 4.0 should have:

Nice to hear about changes in 4.0 Would really appreciate possibility to access main function while digging deep in tunein or local library as example (without pressing "back" 5-10 times). Global search is also nice function for local library owners or multi subscriptions to different streaming services (really hope that sources will be visible in search result tab) Many thanks in advance.

Please add sort album on date descending and not only ascending

On one of the YouTube videos from whatever hi-fi show v4.0 was announced at, you can hear the Bluesound representative mention "end of March, early April". That was a few months back though, and things can change at short notice when software isn't quite ready yet.

Looks like they added a cell phone GUI to the desktop screen.

There is a reason why nobody does this....

I'm slowly saying goodbye to Bluesound.
    I will switch...

Thanks for the update. I'd rather it was released later than originally announced than released unfinished, so it sounds like it's a wise move to delay BluOS 4 (despite everyone's obvious disappointment)

To be honest, I'm more interested to see if the longstanding bugs and controller inconsistencies are going to be resolved in the upcoming release, as a new lick of paint means very little to me personally.

When I purchased my first Bluesound product (a Node 2i) in late 2020, I returned it within a week due to frustrations with the subpar software experience and bugs. So it was very disheartening to see none of the issues reported by myself and others had been resolved in the intervening years when I returned to Bluesound with the NODE in late 2022.

I've been on the verge of selling the NODE ever since I bought it, but was keen to see if BluOS 4.0 would finally resolve our long-standing complaints and suggestions. Having now put my NODE up for sale a week ago and returning to my ancient yet superior (IMHO) Logitech Squeezebox software and devices, it's a shame I'm unlikely to see the final release of the new controller software, but I genuinely hope that Bluesound have listened to their customers and October brings an improved experience to their users.

(I realise that might sound like an entitled "throwing toys out of pram" response by selling my gear, but it's been at the back of my mind before BluOS 4.0 was even announced, and had started to advertise it for sale prior to today's announced delays)

To bad that they only show it on iPad (I think it was iOS), I like to see it on Windows and Android as well.

    Looking forward to this update!

I really hope that this update improves the situation that Qobuz user, such as myself have to deal with, with the lack of any sorting options for your album collection with the current Qobuz api, not even maintaining correct alphabetizing.

Please also pay attention to the many, many remarks made by users in the Apple AppStore.
the current number of errors is enormous.

further I’m looking forward to this update.

but what is the date? Spring is long on the way now.

I wonder if they've realised it didn't contain any of the features that people have said they hope is in it!

With a little over 20 days left in spring and no beta testers it's very doubtful Lenbrook will be able to deliver as promised.

As it stands, a desktop GUI with 1/3 of it appearing as a cell phone GUI is not exactly innovation, more like lack of imagination. No idea why so many audio manufacturers want to reinvent the wheel when it comes to audio software GUI's.

BTW, Lenbrook is hiring a software dev...if anyone is interested.

Can you share any details as to if anything else has been added to 4.0, which causes the delay? I.e. new features, rework of the architecture behind the wireless features etc?

In all honesty... we just want to get it right and felt delaying the release was best for you, our consumers rather than releasing what we were not happy with and knew you wouldn't be either.

  • Derek Stratton

OK it's been switched from spring 2023 to Fall 2023. Stuff happens.

But - give us some DETAILS on features/capabilities to be added. I am happy enough  with the current GUI, but will be sorely pissed off if a cosmetic refresh is the biggest feature. And, tell us if it will run on a Node 1 or Node 2....

I'm just hoping this release will have option to alphabetize the Qobuz saved artists. A scattered mess for so long. Seem to have been fighting that forever so fingers crossed.

Just saw this on Ecoustics (hint - October 17th!)

I would love and several have asked but in Qobuz, please have ability to alphabetize artists under favorites. Playlists work fine once ordered in Qobuz app, then updated in Bluos but Artists NEED to have ability to alphabetize like the native Qobuz app does. So really hope that happens after all this time.

@BluOSfan, I hope you're right but it's not easy to be optimistic after four years of waiting. 😕

What Bluesound press release are you referring to? Do you have a link you can share?

    1. Will BluOS have bit depth/bit rate display on app and devices like M10?

In The App... Yes - on the front panels, not at release as the front panels are independent from the App

    2. When is DLBC coming? Together with BluOS 4?

DIRAC product development on NAD products are not directly tied to BluOS releases. DIRAC is also not available on Bluesound products (which technically this forum is about). That being said yes there have been some unforeseen hurdles in the release of DIRAC Live Bass Control up until now however NAD is committed to DIRAC as you have seen the press releases on the upcoming NAD M66. For news on NAD Products please subscribe to their e-mail Newsletter by clicking this link.
