All Bluesound (BluOS) needs is a network share added to the BluOS App. It will then go off and create an index of your albums and present them in the BluOS to play.

You don’t need anything running on the Synology (apart from file sharing) and all playback is done via the BluOS App.

    Hey Seppi,
Thanks gor getting back so quickly.

So just to confirm, as I have the nas already setup for media sharing, it's jtst a case of connecting the LAN and "bingo, job done"?

Other folks have talked about creating users etc, so just confirming

Yes, literally type the path / credentials of the share into the BluOS App and you are finished.

The share can have login credentials or just be open, depends if you are worried some is going to get past your Router, into the NAS and delete your music.

    Appreciate all the valuable information.
Just curious about the password situation.

All my end points I've used actually access the Asset server software, not directly to the Nas hdd as such.

Does blueOS work differently as in it needs to have a specific user account 9n the nas?
Other end points just connect, the app shows everything as defined by the asset server display and sorting settings. No one can erase 9r modify, I have to physically log in to the Nas to di that.

Are you saying that bluOS operates differently? Or are you just speaking as if I don't have any proprietary software running on the Nas to organise and manage the files?

Knowing there's a possibility files could be deleted makes me a bit twitchy you see

BluOS does not use UPnP, so no you don’t need Asset running, you literally just connect to a directory or directories that have been shared on the Synology NAS.

You can use a guest account, following this support document…
