Trouble with BlueSound on Subnet
BeantwortetHello,
I hope finally can help me on my problem.
I bought 7 Bluesound Speaker and ordered the new NAD M33V2.
We use different VLANS for security reasons.
- one for NAS with data, another one for Home Office, one for kids and one for surveillance cameras and finally one for all entertainment devices.
Unfortunately, I cannot get Bluesound to work !
Even so I activated mDINS, Multicast - Bluesound speaker can only be accessed within the same network / vlan.
The retailer pointed me to the support team and the support team back to the retailer.
That is why I finally make this post with the expectation that someone can help me please.
Much appreciated.

Hi Peter,
I see that you have submitted a support request to us regarding this. It looks like you have quite a complicated network. See if these kb articles will help you with your networking issue. -
I'm not a specialist in networking, but I had a little project to run a Node2 and a Node2i on separate subnets. This works very well and every Node was able to connect to the internet and a NAS on subset A, but the problem was the communication with a controllerapp on subnet A to control a Node on subset B. Apparantly you need to have a router with vxlan support, which is not common in consumer hardware. Maybe an avenue to explore?

Thanks for answering so quickly.
Actually, meanwhile I did some research and figured out I am not the only customer experiencing difficulties.
Here a response form Claude.ai:Sonos mDNS ✅ Ja Modern Denon HEOS mDNS ✅ Ja Modern Yamaha mDNS ✅ Ja Modern Bluesound LSDP (UDP) ❌ Nein Legacy Bluesound developed this technology 15 years back and since did not modernize.
Thus, not working with subnets / on different VLANs.

Would be great if Lynbrook could release a new bluesound app that uses commonly used standards. Meanwhile I have to live with the restriction. Thanks.

If I remember well, Bluesound also uses mDNS and the communication problem had to do with mDNS not been piped through the subnets, hence the need for vxlan. But feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.
