Connect a TV to Node 2i

Hi there,

I’m shopping for both an AirPlay compatible streamer _and_ a new TV.

- Node 2i seems to be perfect because it also has coax digital out, but I’m not sure about the TV, since it has no HDMI input. 

- I don’t consider the Powernode a viable option for me because I don’t need an amplifier. Plus, it seems unavailable here in Germany.

- I could try to find a TV that has AirPlay _and_ has RCA outputs and bypass the Node 2i altogether, but it seems that TVs nowadays don’t usually offer this ouput anymore?

- On the other hand, if the TV has AirPlay, shouldn’t I being able to use that option to connect it to the Node 2i?

  Did you talk to a Dealer or didn‘t you find a Dealer?
  
  

  We are a Bluesound Partner, we have no devices on stock and didn‘t request availability some time ago, but last time there were devices on stock at distribution.

  New TVs mostly have HDMI ARC Input and here I would suggest the PowerNode 2i with HDMI.

  If you still don‘t wanna use a powernode because of the AMP you could use the Node 2i, but the digital koax connection is a output. Best in this case would be a TV with optical audiooutput and this one connected to the opticalin of the Node. 
  Analog would be possible, but most TVs have no analog output (Ok headphone out, but mostly not a good idea) anymore.

  thanks for the super-quick reply!

  - No, I didn’t talk to a dealer, I was just looking at the website

  - Yes, the coax is output. I just mentioned because it’s something I value: it would allow me to still or at least evaluate my other DAC (a Cyrus)

  - The PowerNode _could_ be an option if I can bypass the amp section. It wouldn’t be a good deal, though, as I would pay for something I don’t use

  - From your reply, AirPlay from the TV to the Node 2i is _not_ an option, correct?

  So, at the moment, it seems the best option could be a TV with optical out, correct? If so, do you have any recommendations at least in broad strokes, it doesn’t have to be the precise model…

  Hi Giorgio,

  Prepare for lip sync issue. PowerNode and Node2i adds min.50ms delay to audio.

  There are several post in this forum regarding Lip sync issues

  E.g.

  If you find TV which allows you to 'advance' TV audio then you are good to go.

  I had to bypass Node2i for TV audio.
