Bluesound Node 2i Standby Mode

Hello all and greetings from Ireland... :)

I'm new to the Bluesound Node 2i and I have it now only a few days. I have mine hard-wired with ethernet to my 300MB fibre to the home broadband Apple Airport Xpress (Gen 2) network extender. I have now noticed that it gives off a red flickering LED light... when I turn around the unit and check it... I can see the red flickering light... so is this normal...? Is this just to represent network activity? or should it be green fo good..? is this red light a warning ?

Also... now that this red flickering LED light is illuminating the custom alcove made for my whole HiFi system, I really notice this at night and it never goes off... so here is my question... how do I set my new Bluesound Node 2i to off or standby mode to stop this constant red flicking light effect. I can't find any power saving settings in any of the settings..?

What is the normal way to achieve this...?

    You can disable the front LED in the Settings Menu under Player.

    The network Ethernet LEDs, however, cannot be disabled as this is in the low-level hardware. Trust me, our engineers tried...

    A small piece of electrical tape or LED stickers is, unfortunately, the only solutions in the case of the Ethernet port. Sorry.

    I sympathize with you - this is very annoying issue but, fortunately, is very easy to solve :

    Personally, I didn't want to tape over the led on my node2 so constructed a 1 cm square of card covered with black tape with keyhole-shaped cutout. Sliding this onto the ethernet cable just behind the plug shuts out the flickering red light completely.

    Cheers guys for the excellent input and suggestions... I think you suggestions for the flickering red led will work... but part of my question also was about the powering off or standby mode on the Bluesound Node 2i... how to I do this so that I know when I'm not using my Bluesound Node 2i it's running on low power and not just "always on" ?

    Any suggestions on this..?

    Hi Anthony

    After 15 minutes of idle, the NODE will shut down into a standby mode using less than 3W as required by EU energy consumption laws, the most stringent requirements in the world. The NODE is an always-ready network appliance so performs best in this mode.

    But... do I need to apply a setting to achieve this 15mins Idle status... is this a software setting... or is that hard wired into the Node to just work like that..?

    Please advise and revert when you get an opportunity.

    Loving my Node 2i now... just took a bit of getting used to.

    Just wondering. Does a12v Trigger event happen when the Node 2i goes into standby mode? Also does a 12v Trigger event also happen when the Node 2i comes out of standby mofe?
