    Hi Tomas

Thanks for your feedback, please continue to work with SONY and SONY documentation to resolve your CEC issues from your SONY TV and power management unique to their brand of televisions. It has been reported to us that if you drill down into SONY's Power Management, you should be able to turn on true stand-by, rather than have the TV mute. SONY's support channels should be able to help you with this issue unique to their lineup of televisions.

    Thanks, for understanding.

    Unsurprisingly, Sony won't help.

And Bluesound refuses to fix the CEC issue, too.

Is it really too much to ask for a "disable mute"???

    Hi Tomas

I believe you misunderstood. BluOS is not refusing to correct, it is completely unable to correct the CEC being sent from a SONY brand TV.

CEC protocols are not democratic, they are autocratic to the last command sent by the last device. It is also unregulated but agreed upon universal standard across multiple manufacturers but is not brand specific. Your Bluesound Player is muting because the SONY brand is telling it to mute. Other TV manufacturers such as LG or Samsung send a null command indicating stand-by. In implementing a workaround for one brand not following a universal standard, you will be affecting all other brands of televisions, set-top boxes,  video streamers, and BluRay players as well.

I hope this helps you to better understand how to resolve the issue being created by your SONY television. I believe I also mentioned, some consumers have contacted us and mentioned they were able to resolve the issue by adjusting power save settings in their SONY television. but again, that would be in your SONY documentation.

Okay, so I'm having the same issue, and although more of a minor inconvenience to my way of thinking, I'd be willing to bet there could be a fix from Bluesound on this.

First, I did try the drill-down approach poking all over my Sony A90J settings and there doesn't appear o be anything remotely close to what was described as "true standby" in the Power Management area of my particular model.

Secondly, I can understand Bluesound concerns on this as I was once an engineer myself, but with respect to the "mute" issue, couldn't Bluesound add a software slider switch in the BlueSound settings part of their app, labeled "Ignore CEC mute commands"?  I would think this could be a universal solution for any users, no?

    Hi Michael

Unfortunately, CEC does not act that way - you cannot pick and chose. It is all or nothing. It is also not democratic.
