To Sub-Woofer or Not to Sub Woofer?
AnsweredHi folks,
I've got a Powernode supplying a pair of Q Acoustic 3050i floor stander speakers and I'm just thinking whether to buy a sub-woofer or not? My real question is will it make a noticeable difference? I haven't got very much space so would prefer not to clutter up another space but if the view is that it will make a real difference then I'm prepared to consider it.
The room is around 5m x 3.5m with a high sloping ceiling at about 3.5-4m at its highest point. I'm pretty pleased with the sound as it is but I don't know what I don't know ie. I don't know what the true potential is and whether at high volumes it will make a real difference? I really only want to invest in a sub woofer if it makes a real difference.
Any thoughts from Bluesound and any users out there would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Ali

The 3050i’s don’t need a subwoofer, you can try positioning them closer / further from the wall and without the foam bungs. If you really wanted to go deep with the bass then you are going to have to spend more in the subwoofer than what you paid for the speakers. The Q subwoofers are only really for the bookshelf speakers so you would have to look at something much meatier.

Thanks Seppi, that's very helpful. And what I suspected but didn't really know for sure.
