Sort order by "Release Date" doesnt appear to be working

Hi 
If I have SHOW ALL in the album view, and the sort order as "release date" then I've seen 2 scenarios:-    
Release Date sort doesn't appear to change anything once selected. 
Which "date" field is it using in the metadata? 
I am sure this used to work and list according to 'date' but doesnt appear to be the case now. 
I've tried under Windows App and iPhone App.  No difference. 
3.20.0   BLu 3.20.21

  Mark, there is a bug in the controller:
  Artists - Album, Show All.
  Options to sort is A->Z, Release date, recent.
  Only A->Z is working.

  No issues sorting by release date using Windows App: 3.20.5
