Surround sound and stereop
AnsweredI just purchased the powernode with 2 passive speakers and it's absolutely incredible for music. I also connected the TV through HDMI to start experimenting with movies in stereo before deciding whether to expend to a 4.0 surround with the plex 2 rears OR buy the soundbar and place the powernode with the 2 passive speakers in the back.
So far the sound from the tv to the 2 passive speakers is underwhelming compared to the sound directly on the tv (Sony aj80). I think placing 2 Plex 2i rears in the back won't be of much help so I'm leaning towards getting the soundbar (Atmos and "real surround") and placing the power mode and the 2 passive as rears like in the configuration on your website
My question:
After they are grouped, can I listen to music in stereo on my passive rears connected to the powernode? In other words, can I easily switch between surround and dedicated back stereo listening without the soundbar being involved?

If they are grouped, both the POWERNODE and the SOUNDBAR will be playing audio together as one. You can easily ungroup them and play audio just on your POWERNODE if you wish.

Appreciate the quick reply.
If I leave it grouped and play music (from the node) how will the music be handled? I want the rear speakers to be the main ones from music (kind of the opposite of what I want for movies).0 -
Is it a NODE or a POWERNODE that you are thinking to be your rears?
In a HOME THEATER setup, you will need SOUNDBAR and POWERNODE. Unfortunately, the NODE is not compatible in this setup. You can still group your Bluesound players using the NODE using a multi-player group - How to create Fixed Groups? – The BluOS Support Crew
In a Home Theater setup, you can change your listening mode from Music, Movie, and Late Night. However, this setup still makes the front (SOUNDBAR) your main speaker.0 -
It's a powernode.
So If I want to make the rear speakers the mains I will need to ungroup and then group again when watching movies? I don't get it. Obviously one would want the speakers connected to the Powernode to be the main ones for music otherwise he wouldn't go for this set up and istead would just get the soundbar and your rears.
If that's the case I'll try the 4.0 set up with your rear speakers
Thanks again
