Android Tablet using bluetooth rather than wifi?

I have my Node hard wired and it works fine.  I bought a really cheap Android pad to use as a controller and it works most of the time.  The problem is my wifi router is afar and the tablet drops wifi sometimes.  Is there a way to use the tablet bluetooth to control the node but not transmit the audio signal over bluetooth?
