Node N130 to dac and ROON crackling with usb
AnsweredHello !
I have been experimenting outputs and streaming services.
I have a pb with Roon and usb output to dac.
It produces crackling.
If I use toslink to dac the sound is perfect.
If I use USB and BluOS control directly the sound is perfect.
Is this a known problem ?
I am playing flac files (no MQA).
Since roon is working with toslink and usb is working with BluOS I suspect a problaim in the signal chain with roon when chaining to a usb dac.
I use the latest firmware 3.18.7 and the latest BluOS control.
Will there be a fix ?
Thanks,
Sébastien

Please see this Help Centre Article and not in ROON you must set your NODE to render only. If problems persist, please contact ROON.

Hello,
I had already completely deactivated MQA since the usb dac is PCM and DSD only.
I guess I'll have to wait the next roon update..

This has been discussed many times over on the Roon forums and it is not a Roon issue, it is a Bluesound problem which they are aware of. Not sure why Tony is suggesting otherwise...

Can you explain why this is a Bluesound issue? The USB works perfectly with the exception of Roon in the equation.

Because the crackling does not occur on any of the other Node outputs.

Ok.
I think this may go some way to solving the problem, it sort of worked for me in the sense that the crackling/audio dropout was vastly reduced but I wasn't happy with the sound quality so I reverted to coax rather than USB. Not sure if you tried it but it may help somewhat. I found this from another posting where another Bluesound and Roon user spoke directly to Bluesound support and advised them to try this.
1. Upon disconnecting the network share, wait 1 minute and disconnect the power of each Bluesound player you have(ensure all players aren’t grouped with each other when you do this)
2. Ensure you also unplug the router from the power and re-connect it
3. When all players have been disconnected from the power and re-connected - including the router… try playing Roon to each player individually*(do not group them for this test)***
4. Verify if the same issue occurs while playing Roon to each player individually, with MQA and without
5. Once you do this on each player, submit another support request as you did previously - do not group the players at any point through the aboveHoping for some sort of permanent fix in the very near future.
