This is the "speed" that should be expected from a network share (Ethernet connection):

Rebuilding index with optimize artwork on, about 40 seconds for 1000 files.
Rebuilding index with optimize artwork off, about 20 seconds for 1000 files.

Double the time if indexing using Wi-Fi.

8 hours is a horrendous indexing time, how big is your library?

As for artwork, you make no mention of what controller you are using but would suggest you remove the controller and reboot the device and reinstall. If the Artwork still does not appear then try “setting…reload artwork” from the Bluesound App.

    Hi Alain,

I do have a big collection about 63 000 tracks or about 3500 albums some of them are double or tripple albums they are put togheter so instead of two discs  with 20 tracks I reordered it to one album with 40 tracks. It have worked perfect up till now.

I started to create a new index five hours ago and right now there is about 38 000 indexed so it takes a very long time, and then I will know if that was the solution. With that said Bluesound have stated that this system can index 200 000 tracks, so in that way the collection is not that huge.

It’s the Bluesound Vault that rips, the tracks once ripped are held in a folder and then compressed with the metadata added to the tracks so once done there is no requirement to pull the data again.

Conny, you have not said where your tracks are stored or how your POWERNODE is connected to your home network.

As I mentioned in my first post all of these album/tracks have worked perfect in both my BlueNode and a PowerNode 2. The problem is that I sold these two and got me a Powernode 2021 the latest generation. I got it thursday and just hocked it up to my Wifi and yeasterday I had to reset it to factory setting as it needed to instal the latest firmware. Then the system creates a brand new index for the files and that was when the coverart was missing. Every coverart is in the folder of album so there is no getting from internet.  To just reindex when adding or delete albums take not very long time but when you have to create a brand new index it takes like eight hours, and after that time you don't know if it solve the issue.

I have the files on a dedicated HDD connected to my router the signal to the Node is high when checking diagnostic in the app. I just uppgraded the windows desktop controller to latest version. It would be a good idea to connect it to my router next time to see if it reduces time, right now I'm eager to sit down and listen to music. But I hope it will work out with this new created index.

Creating a new index with a wired player for 64,000 track should take a bit over 2 hours to give you an idea of much slower wi-if is.

However Routers are notoriously slow / underpowered and that’s before they have to be a file server but 100% connect via Ethernet next time. Once the index has been created you should not need to rebuild the index if your artwork was previously working, follow my post earlier.

Edit… do also try the Bluesound App on a phone / tablet. On a desktop the artwork is read and cached but pulled as required on mobile devices.

After several hours the index is finaly done and evrything is perfect again all coverart are in place. I will try to connect direct to my router or my extender. My router is down in the basement and my Powernode uppstairs in the living room. I have an extender that the Node is working from, I've been thinking to connect the player via ethernetcable to get as much speed I can achive, haven't tried yet as I have no cable. Soundwise it works perfect rigt now and to just add or remove albums is no big deal that goes in minutes.

A big to thank you all for your time and input on this subject.
