VAULT2 failure and music recovery

A customer of ours had a VAULT2 fail altogether. Doesn't boot and makes a funny clicking sound when power is applied to it. Anyways, the hard drive still seems to be intact but we want to know if there is a way to recover the music from the drive. Loading it with a hard drive caddy in windows just shows the the drive exists and has a healthy partition, but you can't access it. Any ideas?? I'm assuming it is a disk format issue.
