Node with Integrated Amplifier
AnsweredHello,
I am thinking about adding a Node to the NAD C388 integrated amp (without BluOS module or HDMI) or perhaps a Marantz 40n. I want to use the HDMI eARC functionality to connect with my TV. I want to use my TV remote to control the volume. Is this possible? I am guessing I would need to connect the Node to the amplifier with RCA so the signal is line level and not use the digital optical out?
I will also be using the Node for streaming and want to be able to control the volume for streaming through the Spotify app on my phone. I am assuming this won't be a problem.
Any input would be appreciated!

If you are considering the NAD C388 or newer NAD C399 - consider the BluOS MDC and HDMI MDC options. This will give you all the functionality you are looking for. The BluOS MDC provides all the same functionality as the NODE but is integrated directly into your amplifier.

Thanks, Tony. I am considering that. The one reason I was thinking of using the C388 that doesn't have BluOS built in is because I have a buddy who has one, is trying to get rid of it, and will sell it to me at a deep discount!!
Just so I understand - let's say I went with the Marantz N40 - would adding the NODE allow me to accomplish what I mentioned above?
I also can't find anywhere that has the C399 available.
Thanks!

Hi Greg
Either amplifier will work. With the NAD amplifier, you have the option to purchase the internal MDC. Yes, you can retrofit the C388. An NAD Authorised Reseller can help you with that if you go that route.
