Composer Should be Viewable During Playback
AnsweredIt is terribly frustrating to not see the composer on a CD compilation of classical music. On a CD compilation of Yo Yo Ma, there could be several "Sonata #2" entries with different composers. The community on the Bluesound support web site have been asking for this feature for at least 4 years! I thought that the BluOS controller would be a step up from iTunes, but iTunes lets you see whatever metadata you choose. Why not BluOS?
I would like to know whether Bluesound has any intention of adding this feature.

Hi Louise,
Thank you for your feedbackWe've taken note of your request to include a metadata editor in our apps, and we've added your notes to a report to the Bluesound Lab for consideration.
Thanks for #LivingHiFi

Hello Mark,
I want to clarify that I am NOT asking for a metadata editor with this request. I am asking for the capability, during playback of a CD, of displaying more metadata than is currently allowed. In particular I want the Composer to be available to display, as well as the artist.
Thanks, Louise

I (and also another customer of the Node2 I know) have the same remark.
Especially for classical music, display of the composer name is essential during playback.
Kind regards, Marco

I would still like to know whether the Bluesound Lab has any intention of adding this feature. Thanks.

I have a problem (only with my iPad), which the Crew are aware of and are working on, wherein I am seeing composer details next to the artist credit on pop tracks in what is meant to be an artist credit-only display. This is doubly annoying because not all track metadata on the web is correct, so not only do I see unwanted composer data, I also see incorrect unwanted composer data.
My understanding is that they're trying to address the issue of composers for classical music only but have yet to succeed. I suspect that my issue reflects a failed attempt at a solution wherein the offending software changes were accidentally published.
I'm not sure how the requirement might be addressed successfully without offering an explicit option, configurable at genre level, to separately display composer details. That's a big ask as it means new screen layouts as well as new parameters and logic.
The solution would also only work if the metadata was good; and we know that this isn't always the case unless the metadata has been carefully keyed by a diligent person, who also knows the language of the data that they're keying. (There is some awful metadata out there.)
Is there a way to send a message back through time to the creators of the CD format to suggest that they include metadata as an integral component of the format? That might largely fix the problem, although diligent keying is never guaranteed. (I can dream can't I?)

Hi Tony
Many thanks.I've spent lots of time fixing metadata using MP3tag, and re-ripping CDs using DBpoweramp when that makes the job easier. The quality of metadata available on the web is patchy at best. Almost caveat emptor, really. My comments about composer were triggered by an iOS-only bug wherein composer is incorrectly appended to track title for pop songs when the composer field is populated. This doesn't happen in Windows or Android. I have already raised a request about this (back in June) and it's 'in the system'.Discussions with the Bluesound agent who handled the request (Siedrick S.) suggested that efforts were underway to enable the display of composer but weren't yet completed,In the meantime, I just want to see title in the title display.Best Wishes,Ian0 -
Is it true that "efforts were underway to enable the display of composer but weren't yet completed" as the previous poster suggested?

Please, please, please add the composer information to the currently playing track! On classical albums this can be very important.
