Auto Connect to TV sound after listening to music
AnsweredHi guys, I have a 2021 Sony LED TV connected via eARC to a Soundbar +. After a session listening to music through spotify or tidal I then want the soundbar to automatically pick up the tv sound when switching the tv on. Is this something that should be happening? I kind of thought thats what eARC was all about but it seems I have to go into the Bluesound app and manually engage the HDMI for the soundbar before it picks up TV sound.
Hope that makes sense?

In the Bluesound App navigate to…
Settings…Player…Customize Sources…HDMI ARC and turn on Auto Sense.

Hi Seppi, well thats embarrassing I could have sworn both my soundbars had auto sense switched on but it was only the one in the back room! Sorry to waste your time and thank you for your help :)

Try powering off the Soundbar and the TV, pull out he HDMI leads and pop them back in again, then power on the TV followed by the Soundbar. Hopefully this will get it working but if not do try another HDMI lead and then submit a diagnostic using the Bluesound App.

There's a known problem with Sony TV's and using the Auto-Sense feature. In my case, when streaming music, the sound will cut-out occasionally because the Sony TV keeps sending out a false signal for some reason. Sony TV's also have another issue in that they send a CEC "mute" command via the eARC HDMI connection to your speakers when you shutoff the TV. I haven't found a solution to either of these seemingly minor issues, and Bluesound has told me that it's really a Sony issue.

Thanks Michael, so nowhere else to go with this while I still have a Sony TV? Cant see this being an issue with Sonos soundbars Im sure Sony would fix it if there was a known issue. Bit frustrating

Well, apparently, in defense of our friends at Bluesound, the Sonos speakers also have a similar problem with the CEC "mute" command issue. Have a look:
As for the Auto-Sense feature for Sonos and Sony TV's, I haven't seen a lot about this from the Sonos community, but I did find this, which appears similar to what we see with the Bluesound speakers and Sony TV's:

I've also repeatedly heard that Sony was coming out with a firmware update to address the Auto-Sense issue, but after a couple of firmware updates on my two Sony TV's, I haven't see anything that corrects this issue as yet.
