Quickbar with alphabet disappears

All lists start with a quickbar on the far right (# - z) but when scrolling down a few pages, this bar disappears. I cannot bring it back, even not when scrolling up again. Is this a bug?

This happens on the OSX controller 3.18.2

  Move your mouse/pointer to right, where the "quickbar" was visible.
