How to pair non-bluesound remote with B100S?

I am unclear whether the B100S has IR support natively or whether I need to buy an outboard receiver.

 

I tried the section on programming a specific function, but none of my remotes are recognized. I'd like to use an Apple remote for this.

  It does not a have an IR receiver as it’s designed for a rack mount / integration, however does have an electrical IR in which would be used in conjunction with an IR distribution system.
