hooking up subwoofer to bluesound node, volume issues

I'm trying to figure out how to properly setup my sub to my bluesound node. My current setup is a Rotel A12 receiver, bluesound node, passive jbl tower speakers, external wired powered subwoofer. I can't seem to get my subwoofer setup right. On fixed volume setting on the bluesound the sub seems to just blast super loud.  I'm using the sub out connection on the bluesound directly to my subwoofer because I like the digital crossover control. I stream all my music digitally from Qobuz or Amazon music hd. Does anyone have some advise on how to set this up nicley with my setup. I tried just running the subwoofer from my receiver pre out but also didn't like how quiet the subwoofer was hooked up that way. Should I be using fixed volume on the bluesound or keep it variable?

  Hi Daniel

  If you are using FIXED audio, output is 100%. Connect the subwoofer to whatever device is controlling the volume, in your case your receiver.
