Node2 only works in same room as wifi router

I performed a factory reset on my Node2 and connected my Node2 to my wifi network while in the same room as my Netgear Nighthawk router.  The Node2 showed blue.  Perfect.

When I moved the Node2 one room away the unit powered up and showed blinking green.  When I moved the Node2 one room further away it powered up and showed solid green. 

The Nighthawk router has strong wifi coverage throughout the entire house for cell phones, laptops, Roku, etc.  Everything except for the Node2. 

Is this Node2 defective?

Would a Node2i work better in this situation?  I would hate to spend the money just to have the same result.

  Hi Paul,
  
  One connectivity/networking feature of other newer generations of Bluesound NODE have but NODE 2 does not is DUAL BAND.

  I suggest you hardwiring your Bluesound NODE 2 to the router or you can add/install a powerline adapter.

  I haven't had much luck with ethernet over powerline so I bought a wifi extender (tplink RE215).  I connected the extender to the Node2 using an ethernet cable.  Works great now.
