    Hi,

To answer your first question, it all depends on your internet speed and your library size. You are probably not experiencing any slowness from your BluOS because you are:

    1. Already used to it.
    2. Internet speed and library size are still not bottlenecking your library.

You can try continuing using the USB storage but I strongly suggest for you to upgrade to a NAS instead.

    Can I ask you why @Mark T ?

Why is a NAS so highly recommended if it will only be used to hold flac (or whatever) files for a Node 2i.

I too have a big library, only want to use a NAS to hold it and supply the 2i, and a memory stick seems the ideal way if the 2i will work with a 1tb memory stick, which given the number of people who seem to ask about this ought to be something Bluesound address..

Maybe they already have, but I've not seen or read of anyone doing this.

    Thanks for any help!

    Great question Steve.

I wouldn't say that it is the ideal way but if you are confident and happy with the way your system and storage is, so are we.

If you are not getting tired of removing your external hard drive from your Bluesound device - plugging it to your computer - moving and copy-pasting more audio files - plugging back to your Bluesound player and then waiting for indexing to finish?
If you have a redundant copy of your entire music library?
If you don't foresee yourself needing a need to store any other files/documents/photos somewhere safe?

If you answer YES to all these then feel free to use the back USB port of your Bluesound player as your music library.

Thank you Mark - I have several back up copies of all my data, and my music library isn't likely to grow much, so the occasional  copy and paste and reindexing is no real issue for me.

I can keep the NAS as yet another copy of everything so that I can use it if and when, but until then it can be powered down to save on electricity and flashing disco-type lights and will look into 1tb memory sticks (you didn't actually say they will or won't work so I'm hoping it will......!) and copy my entire music library onto it.

I'll report back when I have to let other know if it worked..

    Hi Steve,

Yes. 1TB of external drive can be used to plugin to the back USB port of your Bluesound Player to store your audio files.

I use a GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 travel router with a small external hard drive plugged into it as a NAS. It's low power and I just switch it off when I'm not using it. It's a cheap and effective solution.
