Done = I selected Help, Send Support Request so the Support Crew could review the error log and find out why my Mac was preventing a connection.

Somebody at Bluesound eventually contacted me and remote accessed into my laptop to see what I was doing. My music files are all stored locally, but associated with cloud services like OneDrive, Google Drive or DropBox. I was told that it wasn't possible for a Network Share to work with a 'cloud folder' that was syncing, even if the files were stored locally.

After copying some files out of DropBox and into the Mac OS X (Monterey) Music folder, network sharing could be accomplished. HOWEVER, it was nowhere near as simple as shown in the Bluesound PDF and knowledge base article. The person controlling my computer altered multiple folder settings to enable sharing PLUS did what was outlined on  https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/200271776-File-Sharing-Mac-OS-X and altered another network setting. After all that, my Node 2i was able to see the music files that had been copied into the Music folder.

So, in theory, it worked. But that doesn't help me and my use case as I want my music files stored in 'cloud folders' should something go wrong with my internal hard drive. So now I've just got a small 1 TB USB drive connected to the back of the Node 2i with ALL my music files there. If it fails, I can easily replace it and copy across my files from the cloud.

Good luck @johnshifi! I wish there was a YouTube channel for support, or ideally much better documentation from Bluesound in general about BluOS (and compatible devices) and how to use all the different functions that are available.

    Hi Warren

If the Local Shares wizard is not working and you cannot locate the share manually, please select Help, Send Support Request so our Support Crew can review the error log and find out why your Mac is preventing a connection.

@johnshifi you might want to give Roon a go. Yes, it’s more cost involved but damn is it good. It’s what I’ve ended up going with. Problem solved.
