HDMI eARC and no sound from Sony A80J and Node
AnsweredIt seems that this should have been rectified by now but it appears this is a common problem. Hoping there is a solution. 1st, of course I have already selected HDMI arc in the BluOS app. The TV is set to PCM out. No sound whatsoever. The Sony even prompts with an automatic setup feature when the HDMI from the Node is plugged into the back of the Sony. It states that it's playing sound and asks if you can hear the sound. If the answer is no, it says check your cable or AV system.

Hi Victor
As SONY's setup wizard suggests, replace the cable, preferably with one certified by HDMI.org. If problems persist, please select Help, Send Support Request in the BluOS App so our Support Crew can review the Player Event Log.

Set ARC not eARC on TV.

I have the same issue. I had no issue with my 2012 Sony. Switched it to ARC etc. No luck. Anyone else having this issue with the A80j? I've checked all the A80j forums and the consensus I eARc is bugged - but ARC is the solution. BU that has not been the case. Latest firmware for both - very high quality HDMI cable.

This was solved by Sony tech support. Amazing help especially since they can remote in to the TV. There is a slider after choosing PCM that needs to be moved from 0 to Max. Why it defaults to zero is beyond me. The Sony support agent had me move it to Max, and Voila, sound. It had nothing to do with the cable.
