Spottify will be playing from your Powernode, not your PC if you are using Spotify Connect.

If you have tried with HDMI and S/PDIF it's most likely something on your PC. Make sure your "output" is the correct one.

Remove the HDMI, optical will be enough.

Hi Bjorn, I had originally connected just the optical cable but no sound so bought an HDMI to try. Neither producing sound.

    Hi Bjorn,

Any other ideas on how I can get sound through from my PC?

    Regards,

    Chris

Have you enabled and selected optical output as your sound device on your PC?  Also, select optical input on the Powernode, if not automatically selected by auto-sense.

    Hi Ken,

Yes have done both of those things.

I purchased an optical cable and I'm wondering if the jack socket at the back of my pc is suitable? It is the socket that I had preciously plugged in the cable that attached to my old Yamaha receiver. I'm guessing the old cable would be analogue? (1 phono plug at the pc end and 2 going into the Yamaha). Will this socket on the pc work with the optical cable or is it for analogue only?

I also purchased an HDMI cable and have tried this in 2 sockets in the back of the pc but still no sound.

You should be able to see some glow of red light on the optical audio port.  Check the PC/motherboard manual to see which one it is.

No sign of a red light, I'll buy an analogue cable and see how that goes. Cheers and Happy New Year!
