Volume control via Airplay for NAD C658
AnsweredHello Support, I see some old posts around the issue, that when using airplay to a NAD C658, volume goes from mute to 28% in one step, and is VERY loud.. I see the suggested work around back then was to use the BluOS app for volume control(?) rather than the HW buttons on the Idevice. That suggestion is inconvenient and not standard Airplay, to which the product is marketed as being compatible. Is there a fix underway, or do I have a wrong setting some where? Is this issue specific to C658 or a general BluOS issue? This is not an issue with other Airplay speakers I have, not even those on the cheaper side..

Hi Lars... when using AirPlay, the volume buttons are active on your macOS or iOS device. I know this sounds contradictory to my other post but is not. Remember when using AirPlay, your iPhone, iPad or Mac is the music source so is known to control the music under Apple's requirements.
The Apple rules are simple - if your iPhone, iPad or Mac is the audio Source, volume buttons work. If the iPad, iPhone or Mac is a remote control to another source, they do not.
All that being said our good friends at NAD Electronics are very aware of the larger problem here and are investigating longer-term solutions regarding the C368 various volume levels over multiple sources.

Hi Tony, thanks for the swift answer - appreciate it. Now, this issue seem a bit dated (2 years when looking at other posts), so I am obviously interested in some sort of a time to fix indication on it, since I just bought the NAD, and to me having this issue when airplaying is kind of a serious one and I regard the Airplay into the NAD for broken by design. I understand your position is it must be fixed by NAD? is there a registration of the issue, a ticket number etc, on their side I can follow up with, please? I can always return the device and wait for a more ready to market product, but the C658 is otherwise a great kit.

Hello Tony, where do a customer like myself go to have an indication for this fix, if there will be one, please?

Hello Tony, I've recived feed back from NAD that this is perceived an apple issue. I get the feeling no anticipated fix is on the radar - would you mind revealing where you got information that the volume issue for the 658 is being looked into, long time as you indicate, since it isn't my impression is the case?
