The NODE and POWERNODE are single zone devices, in other words only one stream at a time. Also you can only connect one pair of headphones via Bluetooth.

A solution would be to purchase a Pulse Flex 2i in addition to either the NODE or POWERNODE.

Are you sure that a Pulse Flex 2i would be a solution?
I didn't think that they had two way Bluetooth and subsequently could not support Bluetooth headphones?

Thank you both for your replies. I'm realising I have to think more in terms of ecosystem. Which is fine really.

In the connectivity section of the specs of the Flex 2i, 'Bluetooth with support for aptX® HD' is mentioned. I haven't checked what the aptX HD can be used for, but the most logical use case is providing better sound quality for bluetooth headphones that support it.

It does say that, aptX®HD is a Codec that allows audio to be encoded as 24-bit up to 48kHz sampling rate.
If you check the spec for the larger speakers it will tell you that Bluetooth Connectivity is "Two-Way (transmit & receive), the Flex 2i does not mention this capability.

Pulse Flex 2i has Bluetooth…, see the spec's and then connectivity.

I understand very well that it has Bluetooth but thank you for pointing it out to me, I have been sending audio to my Flex devices for a few years now via Bluetooth.
When I wanted a Bluesound device that was capable of sending audio via Bluetooth to headphones my dealer told me that the Flex 2i was not capable of that but all other devices in the 2i range were, this is why I challenged your suggestion of using the Flex 2i with Bluetooth headphones.

Obviously one of you is correct and it will be interesting to know which one? Who knows, I might be visiting my dealer with a mis-selling claim.

Seppi is normally pretty bang on but yes the PULSE FLEX 2i is a BT Receiver only - you will need at least a NODE 2i to make this happen.

Thanks for the catch Tony, probably was using the Flex wired to the headphones despite them being BT.

Thanks all. This is certainly interesting for personal audio. I'm imagining small near-field speakers from bluesound, like the flex 2i's could be, but then one server and one client active speaker, with two way bluetooth. Though the bluesound ecosystem will probably allways require the active devices on the network to be full bluOS 'nodes/servers', which is relatively complex and therefore 'expensive'.
Though I can imagine bluesound not diversifying further in hardware, but rather use  the node/powernode and focus on software development.
