Node 2i vs Node 2021 for transport only?
Hello,
I want to get one of the Nodes for the BluOS implementation only. I'll be connecting it to an external integrated amp.
Will I get any benefits(why) in this case if I get the new device vs the older one?
2nd question: in general how close is the Powernode's sound character to the NAD M10? Is the M10 similar sounding but just better?
Thanks!

Comparing Powernode 2 (not the 2021 version) to M10:
- M10 is much quieter, as in the absence of background noise. It is almost like being in a acoustic chamber, just quiet and dark.
- M10 has significantly higher resolution, i.e., more details.
These are the two most obvious differences. Together, the M10 may sound sterile at first, before the listener gets used to its more vivid presentation and appreciates the whole presentation in a different manner.
It is not to say that the Powernode is not enjoyable. The Powernode sounds very nice, but the M10 sounds high-end.

Thank you. I have the Powernode and am contemplating the M10 as my upgrade. Would you still consider the upgrade a "no-brainer"? :)

I'd say that it is well worth it, especially, if getting a v1 at a significant discount to the v2.

Yes, I'm hoping to get it for a considerable discount like 30-40%.

I am still trying to find out if purchasing the new Node over the older model is worth it if I use it for transport only? I won't be using its DAC at all. Basically I'm looking at the cheapest BluOS streamer on the market, which obviously is the Node.

Though there is a slight difference in the DAC lowering the SNR from -110db to .005% distortion rate to -113db (.002%) that's really for your ears to decide.
Perhaps if money is burning a hole in your pocket - you consider a PULSE MINI for the next room and experience Multirom - the coolest part of BluOS if you ask me.

As a transport, the ace in the hole for the new Node is the fabled USB Output feature. If that's critical to you, then ......
