Original Node (N100) - TIDAL connect MQA input and optical output - does it perform MQA 1st unfold?
Hi Technical Support
When using Tidal Connect playing to the original node (N100) and digital optical output - does the N100 perform the MQA Core Decode / 1st unfold?
Or N100 only outputs the unfolded and just keeps MQA signalling.
Specifically asking about using "Tidal Connect" feature , from Tidal Desktop and iOS apps.
And specifically asking only about using the N100 digital optical output
So input = Tidal Connect MQA and output = digital optical
Thanks !

Yes the original NODE (N100) supports MQA both as a single solution or using an external MQA DAC.

Thanks I had seen that support page but wasn't sure if it was applicable to original NODE (N100) also.

Hello! I thought I'd slip here to avoid creating a New topic. I just got the new NODE, and I have it connected to my active speakers with an optical output. I've read that this way, NODE will do only a first unfold (up to 96khz); however, I played the only 192khz MQA album I have in my library and I was surprised to see that it's decoding/sending a 192khz signal through optical to my speakers. Does that mean that the NODE is actually doing the 2nd unfolding? Is it recognizing that optical (or my speakers) support 192 signal and so does 2nd unfold? Thanks!!
I'm just not sure if by connecting Optical Output, it's using my Speakers' DAC and obviously the Amplifier. Or it's still using NODE's DAC (hence full MQA decode), but somehow outputs that digital 192 signal to my speaker's Amp...?
